Marvel Legends BAF: Terrax

Terrax Series: Iron Man, Steve Rogers, Klaw, Hope Summers, Constrictor, Ghost Rider
Well I did say I was going to finish another BAF in this particular post, didn't I? Well, the next complete part of my BAF binge is going to be Terrax. There is something a bit special about this guy and that is the notion that he was the first BAF in a long time after Hasbro took a break. More so called: "The Return of the Marvel Legends" series rather than the Terrax series to his disdain, of course. Being a former Herald of Galactus, one must be a bit more prominent, right? Surprisingly, he isn't a well known character even to me. I've seen him more than enough times through cards and comic books, but his story is always obscure to me. Then again, a lot of the Marvel's cosmic and space characters are to me, but as a figure, he has his standings with me. He isn't the best BAF, but he does have some qualities that makes him rather enjoyable!

One thing about Terrax from what I have seen is that he has remained consistent with his costume and Hasbro made sure to catch that consistency rather well. While it's not exactly the most outstanding costume for a former herald of Galactus, the almost infallible detail of the toy that adheres to the comic book designs is what makes it great. The 'axe' itself is generally the image of his weapon in the comic book. Colors are great, vibrant red and the skin tone grey with the devious grin is just fantastic to say the least. He also has the peoples' eyebrow going on(color of the eyes are close to a silver'ish deal; cool looking) and then the ever so symmetrical 'Abraham Lincoln' beard going on there. Again it is a comic book trademark, but still, it gave me a good laugh. And yes, I have a slight red paint smear on his neck.

His height is almost toe to toe with Iron monger from the IM3 BAF series. Doesn't make him the tallest one of the BAFs out there, but it gives him a decent height. He is bigger than the regular Marvel Legends which makes it better than the recent BAFs coming out(Hit Monkey???? Really?).

One of my biggest complaints about this figure is that he has a VERY lose grip on his Axe. It won't come off his hand when being put into a pose, however it doesn't sit in a taut manner where it would allow him A LOT of really convincing action scenes. Angling the said axe in a certain way can make it a bit more true to an axe wielding alien, but trying to get him to hold it up as if doing a 'Thor' pose is rather out of the question most of the time. But finding out form a certain reviewer(wonder who) that you can have a makeshift 'sheathe' for his axe adds a bit more postures. More or less.

Speaking of Thor. Wait, Thor as an axe too? Have to axe him if that is magical too!

So Terrax found a home in Shelf 2 and Ultron moved to Shelf 1. Decided to add another cosmic powerhouse in this shelf since we have Loki, Blackheart, and Apocalypse on the first shelf. Onslaught may be a juggernaut on his own right(pun) but there wasn't enough 'umph' in this shelf. Well, there is Terrax to add some power of cosmic in this one!

With characters like Klaw and Constrictor who are still somewhat shelf warmers in most retail stores, Terrax wasn't an expensive BAF. Still recent enough and again, having not so enamoring characters will make BAF purchasing rather easier. He is a good buy, I mean, he isn't my favorite BAF, but he is for sure higher on the ladder than Rulk or Iron Monger for me. But then again, I don't collect BAFs that I don't like. It's an expensive hobby and to frivolously collect BAFs with budget and space being an issue, well, it's just plain asinine! But Terrax, this guy I dig.

Marvel Legens: Random Villains #2

Klaw
I hate this figure. I hate this character. With vehemence. Nothing about this character is anywhere enticing. While I am well aware that there are other detestable characters that Marvel has created, I will say that me checking out of the retail store with this guy in my hands and not X-23 Marvel Legends(They have yet to make one. Boo) makes me cringe with anger. This guy came with the Terrax BAF Series.

Constrictor
There is something to say about villains like Constrictor and Omega Red with 'tentacles' as their weapon. Honestly, I dig this guy. Costume isn't the most spectacular thing around, but it makes sense. I would fathom he is trying to be a 'snake' like villain or what not so suffice to say, so constricting would be his forte. This figure has a sinister smile and all(almost devious if you ask me), the articulation rocks, and he did come with a piece of Terrax. One gripe I do have with this figure is that his tentacle lacks the proper articulation for something that is suppose to bind and constrict(boo). But, happy with this guy! Terrax BAF series.

Carnage
There was a time when Spider-Man toybiz came in abundance! Some came good, some came in horrendous display and functions, luckily for me, this Carnage is just plain badass. He looks nefarious but still somewhat 'up to something'. His articulation allows for a lot of 'spider' like pose and he can do whatever a spider can. Sadly, I have yet to explore the full possibility but I would surmise I will. Great paint job as well. From the Amazing Spider-Man toybiz line.

Ultron
I talked about this guy already a bit. Honeslty, the least favorite out of the series but he actually came out not too bad. I thought I would detest him even more considering how hard he was to find and how long it took me to finish the set because of him. Being a Hank Pym creation and having a recently abhorrent saga based off of him(Age of Ultron aka "A.U."), this guy isn't on top of a lot of people's list in regards to badass villain. But at least the figure is cool. Iron Monger BAF series.

 Spiral
Spiral is a unique character and probably the 'shiva' of the Marvel Universe. Having her past linked with Psylocke, I've always had my eyes set on this gal for some time. Her toy adaptation came out decent and unique. Having six arms in a small stature of a figure does make it complicating but this one pulled it off nicely enough. I wish she came with more swords, but no real major complaints. Her helmet was a pain to keep on so I just super glued it on her head. Truth to be told, I love this figure. Articulation has some hinderance because of the three arms on each side, but that's expected with that many limbs. Rulk BAF series.

Danger
This gal has a very convoluted story that I didn't delve into. Basically, her name 'Danger' came from the  idea that she IS the machine that made the X-Men's danger room the way it was. The Danger room itself was an advance technology capable of many feats. Guess there was an artificial intelligence in there that rebelled. Sure. As a figure, pretty good. Too bad her posture is hindered by her wings. Take it off and she is lacking that special 'thing'. From the Brood BAF series.

Marvel Legends: Klaw Sucks.

Ulysses Klaw
I am well aware that Marvel and DC both have a myriad of E-Listers on their roster both villains and heroes alike. Hell, I'll be the first one to admit that I even like some of these said E-Listers. But there are some characters that JUST don't deserve the light of day and Klaw is one of these abhorrent characters. Suffice to say he did get that certain light since he did end up on the Marvel Legends line up with Hasbro's revived Legends series. Sucks. I don't know or care to know anything about this guy. His first name is cool. "Ulysses" however is too prestige of a name for this A-hole to have. However, I did give this guy a bit too much attention to day... and this is the fruit of my labor:

KLAW vs EVERYONE BETTER THAN HIM

Abomination vs Klaw
Now I'm no big Abomination fan, but this is something I'd like to see. Talk about 'smashed'.

Carnage vs Klaw
Talk about Maximum Carnage. Although Klaw may have something Carnage doesn't like and that is sound distortions, let's be honest, Kletus Kassidy is a serial killer in a symiote. That equals Carnage for sure. Klaw would be so hacked and slashed that he won't be allowed a second life even in comic book ordinance!

Constrictor vs Klaw
Now there will be no sensual tentacle bondage here at all! All there is constricting and taking his ability to breathe within that ugly and creepy mug.

Deadpool vs Klaw
Deadpool may have a very obscure sense of humor but I would laugh every time I see him drop this guy. Wade would probably be REALLY gory with it too.

Deathstrike vs Klaw

Klaw may have something for women, but the one thing that he doesn't get reciprocated is that women don't flock on his side. The ones who do are probably just as lame and lack of aesthetics like him. Deathstrike would oblige to rip his life to a painful and agonizing death every second that she gets. This will be a deviant death to Yuriko's standards.

Green Goblin vs Klaw
Norman Osborn is probably going to be doing him a favor by handing him a pumpkin bomb. Nothing like brewing up a good pumpkin to blow up a useless character.

Iron man vs Klaw
Nothing about this pairing is even a semblance of justice for both characters. Tony Stark is too damn good to be put next to him. Basically, Klaw is out of his league. But always nice to see Iron Man lay down the law.

Rulk vs Klaw
Yeah. Rulk smash. Enough said.

Spider-Woman vs Klaw
As I was mentioning, Klaw is lame. So lame that he is inept to handle a bound and gagged damsel. Talk about a deviant match, this one for sure may be sensual to a certain preference, but in the end it would be to Klaw's humiliation.

Spider-Man vs Klaw
If Spidey ever had to snap again like the whole 'Back in Black' story line, it should be implemented on Klaw. But hell, Spider-Man's too good of a character to be fighting Klaw.

Terrax vs Klaw
I would fathom that Terrax holds a grudge with the notion that this inadequate was part of his BAF toy line. I'd be pretty livid myself. Off with this guy's head!

Venom vs Klaw
I was never a huge fan of the McGargan Venom though his action figure aberration was pretty damn cool! Though Klaw over here doesn't concur.

Wolverine vs Klaw
Shredded in every axis known to man. Since Logan is in his X-Force duds he would have no qualms ending Klaw's pathetic existence. Berserker Barrage!

Hard to imagine I didn't use anymore of my toys to beat up on this guy. Though at a certain point it would've been redundant! That and putting Onslaught or all of my Iron Men to beat up on this guy would've been WAY too much work for my liking. Though it was fun. Sadly, the guy did find a place in my Villain shelf #2 .... in the back corner which I'm sure one can see. I'll probably take him down when I am in need of space for better people. Klaw is just a filler and a MUST to complete Terrax.

Marvel Legends BAF: Rocket Raccoon

Rocket Racoon Series: Black Panther, Hawkeye, Wrecker, Jean Grey, Scarlet Spider
So a question... Who is the BAF in this picture? I mean, it does say "Rocket Raccoon" but, it seems that Wrecker is the most fitting one of the bunch! Since the return of Marvel Legends under Hasbro, the figure to be built has lost a tremendous amount of 'stature'. Now don't get me wrong, Terrax was a great BAF in my opinion, but with waves like Hit Monkey and now Rocket Raccoon? Suffice it to say, I think we are going for the smaller characters to be built. That and I'm not going into the 'drama' of Marvel Legends ending only to adhere to Movie releases for their BAFs; though Jubilee? Hm. But anyways, moving on to this little guy over here!

Now Terrax isn't the biggest of the BAFs that Hasbro and Toybiz has made but he looks gargantuan compared to Rocket Raccoon. Simply put, the ravenous space furball is barely 3 inches, I believe! This picture right here should really drive that point across. Now I am probably guestimating in regards to actual size, but hey! I'm close I would surmise!

I didn't know what to expect in regards to articulation. I had a feeling it would be able to at least move considering how small he is, but I knew there were going to be some downers. I wasn't far from the truth since the little guy DOES have the  shoulder, elbow, bicep swivel, wrist swivel, head moves, tail moves, and the mouth moves. Now you don't get too many lip moving Marvel Legend BAFs these days, but the norm is that the legs does move! Rocket Raccoon's legs stays stagnant. In fact, standing this bad boy up is impossible with the use of his tail!

But who is Rocket Raccoon without a gun that has a ... rocket in it? That's correct! He does have an accessory in the form of a gun! His tiny hands are molded so that he can be ambidextrous! And he is also given the perk of holding this gun with both hands. Gives him a few more postures to adhere to, I suppose. Though I would prefer if they at least gave him two guns so that dual wielding would make him a bit more dangerous looking. I don't know too much about this guy nor am I familiar with his trademark guns(if any), though I would assume battling up in space, two guns would be a bit prudent in certain scenarios. Just guessing again.

At the end of the day, I'm not going to flat out say that I am 100% pleased with this guy, but hasbro didn't let me down completely. The figures that came with him is what matter in the end, I suppose. Though if Hasbro is ending the famous BAF on the Marvel Legends line so that they can concur with the movie, I would think bigger and badder characters would be a bit more on the smart side. Still missing the waves of Apocalypse, Sentinel(going to finish, ONE DAY), and Giant Man who are colossal in size! Oh well. Shouldn't complain, right?

or should I complain? Can't even see him in this mixture of Marvel Heroes! Oh and speaking of which, one of the rare 'Hero' BAF that I own. Rulk being the other one.

2013 Collection Highlights

Last couple of years it has been about "Video Games of the year". Well, with how things changed this year, I don't think I have enough gaming time(or games played) to even make the yearly post possible. There were a couple of games, however in the end, my hobby turned more towards my collecting(fervently). I collected quite a bit this year, and honestly, it was a really tough choice trimming down the choices to what they are in this list but I think it pretty much has a good enough impact to make this first year post worth it. If this continues on to next year or maybe a couple, perhaps we can make more categories but for now…

Marvel Legends -This is where my collecting began. To me, this will be the area where there will always be growth. Now I have slowed down quite a bit in terms of the 'what' I collect since room is becoming scarce(that's a collector's bane right there. Space or money). Again, narrowing these guys down was quite a thought process since I did snag a plethora of these guys this year! So to my top five on the list…

Betta Ray Bill, Iron Man(T.B.), Scarlet Spider-Man, Pyro, Wolverine
Marvel Legends falls in two 'time lines' with Hasbro being the newer supplier and Toybiz being the 'legendary/retired' one. Suffice to say, Toybiz is still in my sights and I will probably collect more of the past waves. This year, both companies received my money and my unbridled attention with the top five pictured above. Figures like Thorbuster Iron Man, Betta Ray Bill, and Pyro have so much vibrancy in their painting that they represent the past of what we used to know Marvel Figures to be! Not only that, a lot of Toybiz's production truly signifies that they were targeting the core of Comic Book collector/fans. Of course Hasbro followed after Toybiz's footsteps and while their start wasn't exactly as elating as one would hope, they eventually caught on with great characters and figures like Scarlet Spider and X-Force Wolverine.

Top Legend:

Articulation? Detail? Character? Biased? What made X-Force Logan take the spot for my favorite ML for 2013? It's an amalgam of all of those factors and then some. This is my favorite Wolverine costume and I was more than elated to see that he was to arrive to retail price(affordable). He is as a Hasbro Legend would be in regards to details, articulation, or what not; he has a bit more to offer and his pose ability is something to deem worthy. His claws are one of the most notable things to point out since it isn't flimsy like a LOT of the Wolverine figures out there.

Build-A-Figure (ML) -This year is something I would call the year of the BAFs. For a huge portion of mid year I was very vehement about collecting some of these guys. From classic Toybiz to some of Hasbro's attempt to be part of the legend of the past, I am more than proud to say I was able to snag some of the most popular(and expensive) collection and all the while being able to fill my shelves like there is no tomorrow! So without further adieu, the top five is here!

Iron Monger, Onslaught, Galactus, Terrax, Modok
Toybiz wil always hold the trophy for creating some of the most colossal and well detailed Villains of Marvel. Articulation had always been Toybiz's forte as well with just about every single joint needed having the pose able perk that made the gargantuan BAFs so much fun. Galactus and Onslaught is indeed a testament of articulation and detail. If they didn't have articulation, figures like Modok stand out for their uniqueness and of course the details. The details were just astounding that one can always recognize the work put into it. When Hasbro took over Toybiz's office chair, there was a bit of a rough start. Fast forward into the future, well, we get some noteworthy ones and in my opinion, characters like Iron Monger and Terrax is really something that evokes gratitude from me that they are the new future(and have been for a few years now) of Marvel action figures.

BAF Legend:

I contemplated a lot on which BAF should get this year's trophy. I gathered a lot of them this year and it was truly ambivalence in play as I shuffled through all of my gatherings. If I was to talk about size and articulation, Galactus would've taken the throne without so much of a hinge. As for the character favorite and detail, it would have to go on Onslaught since I have a lot of nostalgia when this abomination came into the scene of the Marvel Universe. If I was to judge a BAF for the figures it came with its pieces, Modok would have to take the seat since a lot of his figures had characters that I really liked! So why does Onslaught in the cake? He has a lot of controversy since he came after the gargantuan Apocalypse, however to me, it wasn't about his size. Honestly, if I was to straighten out his legs, he would be taller than what people give him credit for! His articulation is surprisingly in abundance and in every nook and cranny that wouldn't (or would) expect! Details are indeed in full nerdgasm with him! So when I think of 'awesome' BAF that I managed to snag this year there are a few that came to mind, Onslaught however manipulated my thoughts I suppose to deem him number one.

Bishoujo -The majority of the characters produced in this line are Western Female Characters from comic books, video games, etc. Splashed with a bit of gorgeous anime detail(I wish the ML lines could learn how to depict female faces like this line can), The likes of Wonder Woman and X-23 are sculptured and painted with so much enamoring detail that one can't help but capture these lovely ladies! Last year was indeed the year of Bishoujos for me. This year however I came out with a meager two. So there really isn't much to do in regards to a competition, but since they are both so enamoring, might as well list them out for what they are worth.

Huntress and Commander (Fem)Shepard
Some Bishoujo comes with their own uniqueness while some are just plain beautiful. These two that I managed to acquire this year definitely lives up to those two perks I just mentioned. I can't sit here and spend a redundant time pointing out every great detail with these two characters since I already did their reviews but let me just say that only getting two this year(Was hoping to get Psylocke this year), I'm more than happy to say that the Bishoujo department didn't necessarily get short handed!

Playarts Kai -These figures are probably my gateway figures to the eastern realm(well at least the "none Kai" version of them from my exuberant Final Fantasy collecting days). Back in the day they were a bit more affordable and didn't punch a huge hole(relatively) in my pocket. Now with the newly formed 'kai' versions, Playarts seems to be trying to stand up in the department of "high end" figures. They are justified with JUST HOW MUCH details and fun factors most of their figures offer nowadays! With that said, let's just delve into the three I managed to acquire for my collection.

Tali, Batman AA, and FemShep
Normandy crew and Batman! That is a dynamic team right there to say the least! Though I would say if Batman was ever put into the world of Mass Effect, he would have to do some brushing up on the tech to be a bit more useful than being a target practice dummy. Still, a Batman/Mass Effect crossover? That would be something to be enthused about. Anyways, with these three, I have to say that all of them offered what I would expect from a Playarts Kai. With the details depicting their video game counterpart amazingly, the accessories that play homage to the character/s(Batman not so much though), and of course the pose ability that comes with them, these three gave me some great stripes on my Game Room!

Winning Playart:

There was really something about the Batman Playarts Kai that I found intriguing that it beat Tali and Shepard. Details, articulation, paint, and homage were all present in all three action figures so how did Batman get the drop out of the two Normandy Crew(that and I think Tali's hot and Bruce isn't really my cup of tea)? Well to simply state the fact that while I enjoyed posing Tali and Shepard, I abhorred how they were so hard to keep standing. Batman just stood strong pretty much HOWEVER one poses him. Must be the ominous cape he has flowing behind him. Though he may not be as nimble as Tali or Shepard because of the said cowl, when 'play time' was over, it's nice to just be able to put a figure away without worrying about him/her falling down when one walks away. Is it truly fair to base a figure's rank on that? No, not at all. I really do think this figure is badass so… there.

Anime -My "Asuka Shelf" grew this year thanks to my new found love for Figma figures. While this category just doesn't have Figmas since it has Bandai, Revoltech, and soon to have S.H. Figuarts, there is really not enough of each figure to start a category for them(perhaps next year). But the one thing about eastern action figures that Western toys are perhaps starting to catch up to are the amount of hand variations, face/head alternates, and the plethora of accessories that comes with them. Damn shame that ML figures and the such have yet to catch up to the pretty faces of their females. Well, with that said, here we go with the top three.

Mari Illustrious Makinami, Eva Unit 2, Rin Tohsaka
I was late to catch up to the Figma trend since I only started this year. I'm even later to catch on that there are better Eva figures out there than the Revoltech ones that I have. So with that said, the three that made it to the list are indeed the better aberrations of their Revoltech counter parts. While being smaller statured versions, Mari and Rin holds true to their anime counterpart far more than their Revoltech reflections. Then we come across the Bandai Tamashii of Eva Unit 2 that is far more enamoring than the Revoltech version! So while I am sitting here admonishing Revoltech, I do have to say that all of these anime toy companies are very exuberant with accessories, details, articulation, and vibrant(accurate) paint detail. And as a bonus perk, some of these figures come with an exclusive stand that makes things far more dynamic when posing and such. While only three really made it to the list, I do appreciate all of my anime based figures I acquired this year.

Most Enamoring:

I think Asuka would ask me her infamous question if she didn't win this one. She did have a Figma version I did buy this year and she didn't make the list; not because she wasn't worth it, it's just that with the list being three, suffice to say, Mari takes the cake and Rin of course was a good duo no doubt so how come Asuka didn't win anything? Well, her Eva did and I'm sure that's more than enough for her until the day they make more Figma figures of Asuka's original(Or maybe her "Q" plug suit), I think her Eva Unit 2 by Bandai will be more than adequate. With a far more stable posing capability, great paint job, articulation to boot(and possibly a really miniscule version of Asuka piloting in there), I'd say that her Eva should suffice to please the more than berserking Eva pilot!

"THE ONE"

Mark V Hot Toy
Who gets a 'lone' Hot Toy and NOT make it Toy of the Year. I mean, after all, until the day I can afford Three to FOUR TO FIVE Hot Toys a year, I'd have to say it's almost a safe bet that almost every time I get a Hot Toy(Iron Man probably. Silver Centurion anyone?!) it will most likely win "The One" award. So what about this toy? Well, the gamut of the things I have already said can be in the review of this said toy. I won't delve too much into it since my zealous tendency took over when I wrote the review. Just know that there is a lot that Hot Toys have to offer and as they should for the price that they ask for!

After Word

2013 was a good collecting year. I couldn't name every single catch that I adore in this single post since well, I had to break it down to the ones that REALLY stood out! Now technically my 2013 spoils aren't all here since I was 'good this year' since Santa was more than happy to supply me with plenty of spoils I have yet to truly delve into. So those reviews are coming up here within the next month(more or less). So 2014 is in the horizon! Let's see who will make it to the list, shall we?

And on a side note …. Maybe a 'Christmas Presents' topic for next year? Oh well.

The Red: The New Game Room 2014

My first post in April and it's a tribute to one of the things that I love coming home to(of course it ISN'T the most enamoring thing in my life, but the Game Room is a huge part of me as well). Last year's post most definitely will show the changes this room has gone through in a year(roughly)'s time. Here's the post about that: The RED. Well, without further adieu, here we go!

So I'm sure from this angle not a whole lot seemed like it changed. It still looks like the Red Game Room from 2013. Basically, it kind of still is.

There are a few different placement since last year. I've already touched on that with a post not too long ago. There are added shelves and the Pagoda lamp has a different order to it than before. Speaking of which then…

I had qualms about putting Ignis the White on the bottom, but to properly fit in one of my recent addition to my Game Room, it had to be done. At any rate, these are the current residents of this area:

Kotobukiya Asuka
Yuna FFX-2
Ignis the White
There used to be Mandarin Spawn in the bottom, but he didn't make the cut. Currently he is a 'guardian' in my closet. So next is the red shelves added into the wall.

The DC Bishoujos used to be in front of me on the left side of my T.V. Changed things up a bit since I needed more room for some other toys and I figured I can make use of the spacing of the comic book wall behind me with a bit more 'toy friendly' efficiency.

The residence of the DC Bishoujo shelf would be these enamoring gals of course:

Harlequinn
Batgirl

Huntress
Supergirl

Wonder Woman
For a while, there was a lot more DC Bishoujos that I found enamoring. But my first Bishoujo statue was a Black Widow one with a very insipid base.

The current residence is missing some Spider-Woman love, which is going to be my latest addition in the Bishoujo realm coming this June!

X-23
Black Widow
Elektra
Black Cat
X-Force Psylcoke
Now moving on to the left of this shelf. So if I was sitting down on my "gamer chair", this would be the view I would be looking at. It's a familiar view from last year's post as it is!

Truthfully, this one went through a decent amount of change over the course of the year. While it is still dominantly Iron Man, it gave up some of that Iron Man dominance and added more Marvel assortment! The most prominent change is probably the top shelf as we examine now.

While the 'background' toy decors are still Iron man, the new residents are the MU 3.75 that Hasbro have produced since the 'slumber' of Marvel Legends. I've had my shared love for these little guys but as Legends started coming back up, I started realizing that these guys aren't my cup of tea. They are really REALLY small and their size lacks a lot of articulation that I look for. Detail wise, for being so tiny, they are pretty good and if Marvel Legends never came back, these consolation prizes aren't that bad, I mean, I kept myself enamored with them for a good few years and their number grew quite extensively! Oh, I'm sure it's quite obvious there is someone up there that isn't a 3.75!

Galactus
The world eater may not be in his actual size compared to the 3.75 action figures, but he is gargantuan enough compared to the mini marvels. He does fit the upper level quite nicely. One of my favorite BAFs, honestly. Speaking of the MUs, these are my favorite ones:

Spider-Woman; Iron man
Dr. Doom, Ms. Marvel, Mystique
Thanos: should happen in Avengers 3 or something!
Apocalypse
Black Widow
The next shelf on display is pretty much standard from how it was last year. Of course there were some additions throughout the year that made it more merrier. A whole heck of a lot of red and gold if I do say so myself. Here we are:

There are a lot of these figures that I really like and have found to be remarkable part of my collection in the Iron Man department. Here are some of them:

Revoltech Iron Man MK VI
Thorbuster Iron Man
House of M Iron man
So for the more random Iron Man things I own:

Stark does have a big head!
Iron Man 2 3.75
"Modern", Hyper velocity, Extremis

Hulkbuster
Silver Centurion

The next shelf is dedicated to his NONE Red and Gold variant armors and a bit of War Machine variants as well. Of course one of my … actually… THE MOST expensive toy is in this shelf.

The shot there is a bit crooked. I don't know what I was doing there; inebriation perhaps or just lack of straight focal point?!

Obviously this shelf isn't as crowded as the one above it. In fact, there are no miniatures or 3.75 figures in here. Mostly 6 inches and the Hot Toy. Speaking of the Hot Toy:

Mark V Hot Toy
The next few are from the wave of Iron Man I toys that Hasbro just used to milk fans. the figures themselves aren't exactly the best in articulation, but the idea of variations does appeal to certain collectors. Well, me personally I can raise my hand to that notion.

War Machine has always been a favorite armor of mine; not exactly Rhodes as the one who pilots it, but the armor itself since it is a bit more exuberant in letting everyone know that he is a walking weapon.

War Machine: Galactus BAF

The War Machine above is probably one of Hasbro's closest rendition to what Figma toy lines can offer. A plethora of variant hands, some accessories, great details and such! Perhaps I'll concoct a review sometime soon! So moving on to the shelf below:

One of the things I really like about this shelf is that I actually own the original Avengers all in here. Of course every one of them wearing a different timeline outfit, but hey, it works!

King Hulk, Ant-Man, King Thor, Marvel Now Cap, Wasp, Classic Iron Man
The bottom shelf of each of shelving is occupied by graphic novels and random action figures. I try to tie in the theme, but for this particular red shelf, it's the 3.75 X-Force and War Machine:

Next is the view of what is in front of me when I am sitting down on my gamer chair.

The view of my gaming time still has Commander Shepard and crew all over it. Still to this day, Mass Effect remains to be one of my favorite games and perhaps in my top 2. Of course Final Fantasy still being part of that, there is Final Fantasy paraphernalia everywhere as one could surmise. Of course Marvel, DC, and some anime still occupy the shelves. Let's start by turning to the left.

My gaming endeavors did slow down this year and it's pretty obvious in my video game shelves are looking pretty sparse, yeah? Posters and framed pictures still remains; and my new plug in keeps the room fresh with the new season aroma!

So this is the 'western' shelf of mine that has nothing to do with the western theme since I there are practically no cowboys or feather folks. Bottom shelf has been updated too since this picture; Yuna and Aerith no longer reside there; Spawn folks do since Final Fantasy does seem out of place in this area! Speaking of Hellspawns…

So the upper shelf isn't entirely Spawn-kin since the Marvel Legends Icon of Spidey and Venom are up there as well, but give or take, it's mostly Spawns. With that said, Todd McFarlane toys have a certain amount of details to them that they can almost be considered articulated statues most of the time; and some are just plain statues like one of my favorite piece I own:

On to the next shelf then:

Venom USED to be top on my list as a wall crawler and/or Marvel character, PERIOD. Times changed, Venom changed, so on and so on. But I still do own some of his better figures out there! Here are some of my favorites:

Walmart Venom(?) and Venom Icons Legends
Venom: The Madness
This whole entire shelving is mostly inspired by villains. As a child, I lacked villains in my toy collection because I wanted the good guys all the time. As an adult, I don't tend to play with my toys the way I did(AT ALL) so my decors need some other flavors.

There is a lot to be said with this shelf despite me not really highlighting a lot of these toys. Just don't mind the Klaw in the back.

Iron Monger
MODOK
The Apocalypse shelf has a lot of meaning to it since it's the shelf I wanted to accentuate a certain scene with two damsels being in the clutches of these nefarious villains! Oh and if it's not a blatant fact, I happen to like a bit of damsels in distress.

Int his shelf on its own there are a lot of figures that I collected that are noteworthy for praise(both Hasbro and Toybiz alike!), but again, for the sake of keeping things somewhat terse, I'll just highlight the three that really draws the picture here.

Apocalypse
Spider-Woman captured
Elektra captured
The Onslaught shelf tries to do the same thing as the Apocalypse shelf with having their own damsels in tow. As it's pretty obvious, Onslaught is one of my favorite BAFs I own so it's fitting that he has some pretty enticing captives within his mighty hand!

So with that then… behold his mighty hand!

Onslaught
Marvel Girl
Psylocke
There are a couple of my villains in this shelf that I found myself enjoying far more than I expected. Didn't think I'd like the new Carnage or Terrax so much that once in a while I have to give them this much praise.

Carnage
Terrax
This next shelf used to be where the Bishoujos rested, but since my Marvel Legends started occupying more space, this one became an 'X-Men' shelf for a bit, and then now it's somewhat of a 'Galaxy Marvel' theme. We shall see where things end up then in the future.

As a collector, I can't say that I am enamored with every one of my toys, but I have them because I thought at one point they were cool, or that they were a BAF piece, or it was just an impulse buy. Perhaps the said Galaxy shelf is an amalgam of all that. Though I do have Betta Ray Bill that I really like!

Betta Ray Bill
Moving on is going to be where my T.V. resides. It used to be a table of mine that was designed with Final Fantasy images; more or less it has a bunch of Rikku in it for good reasons. Surrounding my T.V. are some of my smaller(and expensive) Final Fantasy figurines. Let's check them out I suppose.

FFXIII, FFVII, FFX, FFT

Diablo
Yuna: Floral Fallal
Kefka
Mini Playarts time!
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy X/X-2
Final Fantasy XII
Then the next ones that decorate my 'entertainment center' is just Disgaea and Elder Scrolls(Skyrim).

Dark Elf in Daedric Armor
Disgaea paraphernalia
So moving on to the 'east' of my T.V. The next shelving adheres more to the anime/eastern theme like Final Fantasy, Evangelion, Street Fighter, and the such. But there are other western influenced things.

The playarts, creature playarts, and a few playarts kai occupy the upper shelf. Perhaps some of them I haven't really displayed in full force so here we are:

Khimari
Ifrit
Magus Sisters

Odin
Mateus
Odin
The next shelf is another Final Fantasy themed. Though the occupants aren't Summons or the sort; more or less the prominent main characters of Final Fantasy are the ones to decorate the said shelf.

Playarts evolved a lot since I started collecting them way back when. They started focusing on aesthetics and articulation which is a great thing. They never truly lacked in the aesthetics side though, but articulation was a great area of improvement. Their first playarts were ironically the FFX-2 playarts with the Gullwings.

Playarts Rikku FFX-2
Lightning FFXIII-2
Red XIII
Street Fighter has been a long time favorite of mine since I was a child. While the continuity of the game is in crisis because of how the company is going about its production, Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Chun Li, Bison, etc. are still in high regards to me. With that said, this next shelf is mostly dedicated to those fighters!

So the likes of Mai Shiranui and that Kunoichi girl in the back isn't exactly part of the Street Fighter/Capcom family, but they fit well in this genre. Speaking of Mai:

Mai Shiranui
M. Bison
And of course what is a Street Fighter collection without highlighting a Sho-Ryu-Ken fighter?

Akuma & Ryu
Next is my Mass Effect shelf. Perhaps my favorite game of all time(though rekindling with FFX makes me realize that it may not be that far from being my favorite) and I'm glad their merchandise isn't in abundance or I would've ran out of room a long time ago. Still, A shelf and a wall is still exuberant enough, isn't it?

The majority of my Mass Effect paraphernalia are based on the playarts Kai; all for good reason as well since they are a pretty decent brand that dishes out a myriad of video game/anime toys!

Bishoujo: FemShep
FemShep and Garrus
Mordin Solus
Tali'Zorah
Next shelf is probably the only real loose DC figures I have displayed. A couple of playarts and some AmeComi. Ever since I started liking DC, I had to dedicate at least one shelf to them.

It's a shame that DC is owned by mattel and they are terrible in action figures. I had this small fire to perhaps try out a DC BAF and see where they stand, but as of right now, I don't have the funds or the space to support such below mediocre product. I turn to other products to supply me with DC toys.

Batman Playarts Kai Variant

Batman Akham Asylum Playarts Kai

If there was one anime character that I like that perhaps I shouldn't adore, it's Asuka. Why? Watch the anime and the reasons are pretty obvious. Regardless, I do have a shelf dedicated to her and her Eva!

This is the shelf that showcases my Figmas, my Revoltechs, S.H. Figuarts, and the sorts. It doesn't take much scrutinization to see that Asuka is a favorite of mine, huh? But there are other anime related characters that make the cut!

Sailor Moon Figuarts
Mari Figma
Eva Unit 8 Revoltech

By far my favorite Evangelion figure to date. Bandai Tamashii is indeed a testament of being able to produce some great Eva themed action figures! I have done my review on this guy, and I just can't be exuberant enough on how fantastic this figure is! Not to delve too much into what I have already said in my review, I will say that anyone looking for a good Eva unit 2 for a decent price, this one is the way to go.

Next to this shelving furniture is my "DC Wall". My unopened pieces that will probably remain in their plastic confines for however long.

Not much here really except to move on to the 'secret stash'. Not so much of a big secret considering that I needed as much room as I can so the closet became a toy display as well.

And I do still own some Diamond Select Marvel figures, which I have yet to open; or accumulate more for that matter. The shelving has changed quite a bit obviously(and yes, that's an empty shelf below the "X-Men shelf"). Where are the Transformers you ask? One of these days when I have the adequate time and organization, I'll take pictures of their new location.

The top shelf still has an amalgam of Spawns, Minimates, Playarts, unopened Toybiz figures, and empty boxes of some great figures.

The next side of the closet also has the same kind of update; again the Transformers will be revealed later on; and no they are not scrapped or anything.

Other than adding a few more figures on the X-Men shelf on this side, it's a much more complete display than the other side. A shelf also pays homage to Spider-Man, my first favorite super hero.

Yuffie Playarts; X-Force Minimates

The Spider-Man dedication.

With this new dedication shelf, there are a few 'favorites' that deserve a bit of spotlight.

Superior Spider-Man
So, that's the new changes for 2014. Truth to be told, there are more changes in the horizon and I will be updating and blogging of course. That was probably al lot to take in, but it is proof that I am an exuberant collector! So with that said… the exit it is!

Before the exit, can't forget about Spike! Okay, exiting now.

Happy collecting to me then!
