Bowen Designs: Spider-Woman

Well, this is it! The real review of the Bowen Statue of Spider-Woman! This is one of my holy grails considering how alluring she is! Now, time to really dig into the details! But first, let's just look at the box real quick(again! I'll just use the draft's pictures since, well, it hasn't really changed and I already packed that HUGE box away).

I wanted to do a size comparison with the box and some other means. Like a comparison with a Marvel Legends? A Bishoujo box? But I never did. Trust ME! This box, like the figure, is colossal! Let's move on to the figure/statue itself.

This statue is elegant and sexy. Classic and nostalgic. Bold and true. This is Jessica Drew with all the elements that makes her Spider-Woman: agile, provocative, classy, but still seductive. For some reason, this really feels like the first and the best Spider-Woman in all her canonical self and the implied kinky side of her that isn't so boldly explored(for obvious reasons!).

Just to get it out of the way: I get why she is staring up; it fits the idea of the picture, however, it prevents some good angles. Sometimes, seeing a person looking up isn't really sexy. But for me to say that is just a really minor and petty complaint. As I already said, this posture is very sexy but still a bit conserved. She's not overt in the way she is 'showing' off, but she isn't exactly neutral. And the sexiness isn't your typical 'anime' or 'crouching down show my ass'(which I love), but it is womanly... but it is also so innocent in some way.

The dynamic, though only really in her hair, is still fluent. It looks convincing enough. The wind brushing against her hair definitely fits how she is sitting on top of that gargoyle just enjoying the breeze of the city skies.

The posture shows just how 'daring' she is. Sexy, daring, and just really dramatic despite how little dynamic is in this sculpt.

Speaking of sculpting, I've already talked a whole lot of about Jessica's sculpting. It's well done, that is for sure, but another sculpting that is done with a lot of care is the gargoyle that she is sitting on top of. It's detailed, but it really doesn't take itself too seriously; meaning that it wasn't intended to be the main focus, but it does compliment Spider-Woman in every way. Spider-Woman is robust, she pops, and she lets herself be known. The gargoyle is simply just a means, something to help her accomplish that. She is beauty while he is the beast. She is curvy, round, malleable, and the gargoyle is stiff, rigid, and stationary. The combination of the two really mixes well, but he doesn't take too much. Again, it compliments Spider-Woman.

Speaking of complimenting: the colors are fantastic! Spider-Woman received a nice metallic red and yellow paint! True to her colors and it makes her vibrant. The sleek and form fitting tights never looked so damn sexy on her! Her hair may not get the most attention, but with the dynamics and the contrast to the rest of her paint job, it's definitely more than good enough. Her web wings are also sculpted and painted accurately to offset from the rest of her costume. The gargoyle, while already loved by its own magnificent sculpt, also received some love through its colors. Dull grey, black, and stone wash, the mute and darker tone is a good comparison to the bright and eye candy Spider-Woman sitting on top of it.

Just letting the pic do some talking here.

And just to compare her size(which can give someone a good picture of how big her box is), here she is next to her Bishoujo(SDCC 2014 exclusive) version. As you can see the difference in style here since the Bishoujo is more anime in every way while the Bowen is definitely more comic book accurate. You can also see the height difference; most of it is the gargoyle, but yeah! The Bishoujo(especially this one) is not cheap by any means, but Bowen Spider-Woman makes it look like a comparison between a Hot Toy and a Figma.

And here is my NEW Spider-Woman shrine! Yes, these are all my Spider-Woman figures out of their respective boxes and containers (I know, I have yet to fully reveal "The New" Game Room).

I've never made it a secret that I was going to eventually get an expensive Spider-Woman product. With the comic book accurate depiction, the sexy and mature sculpt, and just the overall look of this statue, I knew that one day she is going to be the one expensive piece in my Spider-Woman collection. I love this statue and if I do get around reviewing everything this year, SHE will be a top contender for 2017's catch! Welps, hope my return to the collection posts did my hiatus justice! More to come in all areas of my collection!

The New: Prologue

Almost. Pretty soon I can do an 80% tour guide. Yes, 80. There is still one component I am not sure I will be getting 'soon enough'. I want to get some reviews done on some 2017 loot before 2017 ends!

With that said, I will be doing some reviews just to catch up. I already got the ball rolling on some and I will be finishing the Spider-Woman Bowen review because she deserves it! Until then!

The Rebuilding: I Will (not)Finish!

Still rebuilding the new game room. I keep tossing back and forth on trying to see how it should turn out but I think I have a good vision for it. Now it's time, energy, and motivation that is holding me back from finishing it.

I've been jumping back and forth between gaming, writing, and finishing this (then the not so fun dailies of chores, and of course there is RL outside the fun times).

I'll finish it though and I'll take pics.

Eventually I will!

A Prelude: To The New

I'm well aware that I'm VERY slow with the review updates! Rest assured that the same reason is the very same hurdle I am facing that prevents most of me from getting some of these out. Also, as we are all aware, THE RED is no longer so rebuilding my new Game Room is a process. One that is taking more time than I intended (just like everything else).

But today is a special day so...I just want to share the things that I have done to spoil myself. And yes, that also includes the ones I have yet gotten the chance to review.

The RED: Epilogue.No More.The New.

Well, if I was to be honest, I'd say that I never thought that this would be a post in my blog about the Red Room that I so adored and worked hard to make my own place of solace. Then again, who did step into their 'home' and say ahead of time: "When this ends, I'm going to be so ready". Guess no one, right? Well, suffice to say, here we are. At the end of the road.

This was the place where the gaming all happened at one point.

There were plenty of things I wanted to do with this final blog of the Red Room. I wanted to show pictures of what was and what is, but as the days went on (this whole thing happened a week and a half ago and it is only now that I got to it so go figure), I found myself just saying "just post it as it is".

And the last on the wall mounted is Harley, my calendar for 2017. Take it away, Princess of Clowns. Well, here's to the new then.

Perhaps I'll get a picture of my 'new' place to call my own

The Red: 2017 Update

It's messy; at the time of the picture, I was still doing some work
It's been some time since I have done anything "noteworthy" of doing some grand post about some 'changes'. Changes happen in my Game Room at least once a month with the addition of new figures, but as for 'change', it hasn't happened for a while--2014 to be exact. But I believe it was time to showcase a change that was "overdue", and something I have been hinting at for some time. Let me show you:

It's no secret that I love Mass Effect. The fact that this part of the Game Room has stayed years after Mass Effect 3's release (the conclusion to the trilogy) is a testament to how much I love that game. It truly was a masterpiece despite its flaws. With that said, it was time to use this space for something else. So I have been working quite diligently to get what I wanted:

Blank red wall.

Yes, that's right. Adding that shelf for my Spider-Woman shrine I have been hinting at. It was a process and getting the brackets to fill my taste and for practicality was a process on its own.

This was a time when I thought I didn't need the brackets.

Turns out I do need brackets, but I wanted something discreet. I wanted black to be honest with you, but my local convenient store didn't sell any. So We'll go with the metallic look. And yes, building up to a Spider-Woman shrine at the top and is that a Harley Quinn shrine?

Why yes indeed! It is a Harley Quinn and an Asuka shrine. Now it's not that Asuka and Harley Quinn are my TOP favorite Ladies. If I had enough Rikku I'd put one. If I had enough Elsa, I'd dedicate a portion but the fact is that I don't. I have a good number of Harley Quinn and Asuka and I do like the two ladies well enough. Asuka was my favorite anime girl for a while and Harley is climbing up the ladder. Besides, they're a nice bunch.

Asukas & Eva Unit 2: Casual 1, Casual II, Asuka lying down, Revoltech Original, Kotobukiya, Figma, Revoltech 2.0, Bandai Berserker Eva Unit 2, Bandai Eva Unit 2
NOTE: I did a review on a Harley Quinn statue before I took this pic so you'll notice something missing.

Jessica Drew Spider-Woman: Tsum Tsum, Super Hero Squad Spider-Woman(x2), Mini Mates Spider-Woman, Thanos BAF ML Spider-Woman(X2), MODOK BAF ML Spider-Woman, Marvel Select Spider-Woman, Bishoujo Spider-Woman, Bishoujo SDCC Spider-Woman, MU Spider-Woman

And of course my lovely Spider-Woman shrine. I may not have enough right now but I swear I will build her up!

This is my view sitting down on my "Gaming Throne" (hah). So what did I do with my Mass Effect dedication? Well the poster went:

Right above me. I plan on getting my FFX-2 poster and probably a FFXV poster up there. Skyrim, Mass Effect, FFX/XV are some of my favorite games so I look up from my Gaming Throne to remind me. The figures, well, I think I'll revamp my Mass Effect (cramped) shelf.

After Word: I don't do as much of these because it's just not that practical. I will continue to collect, of course, but changes may not happen as much. I might redo the brackets; as it is, I'm still doing some brackets on my X-Men/Cinematic/Spiderverse shelves. We'll see.

----Update 01/29/2017----

Yes, that is correct. Spider-Woman will be sharing her spotlight shelf with Elsa. I'm sure they are both going to get along just fine!

Collector Corps: Spider-Woman pin

This is a pin made for me. Spider-Woman. Red. Marvel. "Collector Corps"! I think I might try and see who else has this so I might reach out and see who owns these things or the other variations of them. Though...

COLLECTOR CORPS

Hmmm.... Perhaps? I don't know. Regardless, it is a tempting idea if it wasn't for I'm not much for random things and accumulation of more things that I don't need. Maybe next year I can start.... I have a lot lined up this year to justify this.

Who is taking over?!

That is one gargantuan Hello Kitty balloon! And no, it's not part of my collection, mind you! It's for somebody really special to me!

Hahaha... well, I know this month has been a bit of a lackluster in my blog. Perhaps next month will change the beat, but who knows. All I know is that life just keeps getting busier for everyone. For the better. For the worse.

Til next time then!

Frozen Infinity

Oh yes, my love for Frozen transferred over to figurines. Well, sad to say, there aren't any 'male' oriented Frozen toys; and I'm not about to succumb to putting dolls on my collection, thank you! But there is this Infinity figurine that is meant for a video game and it actually is pretty cool!

Now the figurine itself has no articulation whatsoever. Detail wise, it's pretty accurate. Though it is lackluster in regards to her everything that makes Elsa's dress amazing like the shimmering and the fancy cape. I suppose I understand why they weren't able to add those in.

Her posture is pretty Elsa like. Though it could be depicted as a sexy repulsor pose, more or less.

One thing that is super accurate is that her hair is on her left shoulder(like it magically finds itself during the movie). The base is paying homage to her 'floral-snowflake-insignia'. So until Figma comes out(never will happen) comes out with a figure of Elsa, this is the best that I can have. I'm not complaining, it's not entirely bad.

Isn't she cute by Asuka?! Anyways...!
