Damsel of the Month:

Art by: SquirrelShaver
Name/Alias: Harleen Quinzel

Game/Series: Batman the Animated Series, Arkham video game series, Suicide Squad, DC movies

Drewgarner
Some words: Month of the virgo and here comes Harley Quinn! Why her? Well there is a lot of things about Harley that deserves this spot, mostly to me, she has been a favorite for a long time! A bad girl who has a psychotic but somewhat warm heart(especially for the Joker) and has been a thorn on the bat gang's side for as far as her first appearance in Batman the Animated Series. The funny thing about Harley is that she started out as a 'parody' by her own rights; a 'what if' Joker finally has a female goon that was ... actually funny. Suffice to say, she caught the hearts of fans far more than anyone expected so she stuck on and so many years later she is still as popular as heck!

Dr. Harleen Quinzel started out as a psychiatrist in Akrham who happened to be Joker's very own. Well, things got twisted and to make a long story short, she fell in love with him and decided to break him out and live a life of crime with him. Throughout the those days, Harley has been part of a lot of Damsels being in distress thanks to her! Who can forget the unfortunate event with Catwoman in the 'almost got im' episodes?!  Truthfully, Harley never really got a DiD scene that is adequate in the animated series, I mean, how could she right? She's the bad girl?! She had a couple of cute almost DiD scenes but nothing like what Catwoman or even what Batgirl went through. Though in the Akrham game, she did go through some trouble:

Talia was responsible for this little scene and I find it peculiar that the ninja would just use duct tape and not rope.... hmmmm... if it was rope...

Yessss....

Talk about bad girls in trouble.... well that's a rather odd but hott couple to be in distress!

Hmmm....  j0801
Some of the most common fan art of Harley in bondage involves her in a straitjacket. Makes a lot of sense since she did work for an asylum as a psychiatrist so she was probably responsible for a lot of inmates to be in restraints using those means...

And some of the other common bondage fan arts I see of Harley Quinn involves her partner in crime whom she calls 'Red' quite often:

Nebezial
Of course Nebezial always does awesome work with comic book gals. He is also a fan of DiD/BDSM as his personal project (sunstone) more than dictates.

Chrome Binder
The picture above is probably my favorite of the duo despite the black and white theme! If it's ever colored by the wonderful Chromebinder I will post it!

Then of course the debate on which costume TRULY fits Harley.... and she has a handful. There was a rant by another Deviant artist that inadvertently becomes part of this bondage themed post:

Cami Fortuna
Honestly.... I can say I like all of her costumes. Some less than others of course like her nurse outfit and that strange Injustice outfit that she wore. Though I have to say my favorite ones are:

Vlastika
Her Arkham City really made her look badass but still have that classic Harley feel to it. Of course by now sexuality has 'tainted' Harley(if you will) and she is more provocative than her original self. But then again... anyone else remember in the animated series where Harley asks Joker in a skimpy nightgown: "Do you want to ride the Harley?". Hmmm... insinuates.

Patrick Finch

Her classic outfit. No words needed I hope except for the fact that it's... classic and cute!

My Commission: GreenLeona
And of course I commissioned Harley to be in bondage some time ago and done right by the wonderful Green Leona. I intend on putting her to more bondage scenes as time goes by. Hell, I want her to be in bondage in all the costumes she wears that I LIKE! But at any rate.... I don't think there is much else to say. Hopefully as time goes on we see Harley in more scenes... heck I'm sure Batman will eventually just tie her up real tight and gag her and leave her somewhere so she never gets out:

ML Jubilee BAF: Storm

If Magneto and Cyclops of this wave was the disappointment, Storm would be the highlight of the X-Men Jubilee BAF! There is a lot to like about this figure and I can see why she is one of the most wanted Hasbro figure there is! So let's talk about this then.

Right off the get go, one can truly see that there is something amazing about this figure that shows that Hasbro can deliver good figures if there is some effort put into it. At any rate, let's move on.

Hasbro has been on a role with their female figures that I have bought(Still interested in Moonstone and Satanna) because of their molds, their faces, and of course the fact that they are coming out with more female figures is something! Though there is one thing different about Storm that I haven't seen Hasbro pull off before: cape. Now yes, Hasbro has done caped characters before and I have some in this wave as well but the one thing great about Storm is that she doesn't have a statue cape; it's made out of some kind of nylon material. Not sure why they just chose Storm to have this feature. Maybe it's the distinguishable cape? The rest of the figure is amazing as well. The paint job isn't stellar as Hasbro(something consistent with Hasbro), but the face of Storm is amazing, the hair detail is superb, and they picked a good costume.

Accessory wise we are still lacking. Again something Hasbro needs improvement on. But Storm does come supplied with Jubilee's 'largest' and/or most of her body. Does it really bother Hasbro to ADD special affects? Lightning affects would be amazing on Storm.... honestly.

If we are going to scrutinize articulation, it's pretty much just being redundant because it's a standard feature that Hasbro has displayed before. She was really fun to pose thought because she is just above average amazing. Again with the lack of special affects there are a lot of things taken away but we're use to that. The one thing detrimental about the cape I love so much is that articulating it to flying posing is a bit harder to make it look convincing since it is VERY flimsy. Maybe bending wires inside the cape would've helped, but again, just like special affects, that would be TOO much work for Hasbro to implement to give far more quality figures. With how much they are inflating the figures, it shouldn't be a problem....

"Storm, Mistress of the Elements! Commands you to release that child!"
One of these days, Hasbro has to up their game to truly start appealing more of their buyers. I know I sound redundant and I may be a bit of a whiner but one can't help but have qualms with missing stands, no special affect, and less than impressive BAFs.

All in all, she is probably my favorite figure of the wave. Again Hasbro has been on the roll when it comes to their female figures so I can't truly complain about her. I've already pointed out what Hasbro needs to do to have a pretty immaculate figure, but as of right now, this is what we can say they have. Very happy to have her though; VERY pleased that they chose this costume. For sure the funnest figure to pose out of all the other figures for sure! So with that said, it's time for the BAF herself then!

ML Jubilee BAF: Magneto

Another piece of the puzzle and I just want to say, this is my second least favorite out of them. It might not be the figure's fault entirely since I haven't liked this costume since the animated series way back when so to have it in modern times and put it as a figure with very little to no fun factor... well, we have a perfect mix of 'bad figure' in my opinion. So, let's move on.

Yes! Toys R US exclusive! Toys R Us, you suck on your online endeavors! Please try harder next time to appeal to your customers! Thank you! Figure time.

Cape. Costume. Helmet. So much things going against this figure so let's start with the cape. There will come a time when Marvel Legends will have to make a better effort with their figures' cape! In other words, MAKE THEM CLOTH! Stryfe was decent with his since it didn't get in the way but Magneto over here... hard to do anything. It's not  badly sculpted but placed rather closely, hindering a lot of poses. The helmet... well if it came off that would've been an okay perk but it doesn't. It's molded in there and it's not that great really. Costume wise, well the costume isn't that great to me as I have said. The current Magneto costume is much more appealing to me:

Though what's up with all those pouches and sleeveless costume these days? Moving on to the accessory!

It's a BAF piece. A small one. No affects? No stand? No alternate head? Variant hands? No. Just a small arm that belongs to Jubilee. Not much to say.

I can't even say his articulation is decent because of the cape. I can't even say that he can stand well because of the cape. He has the modern articulations as it is, but that cape! The stand I am using belongs to Toybiz and even the 'affect' he uses in the first picture is Jubilee's! Yeah... not much about this guy to truly redeem really.

All in all, I bought this figure because of the BAF piece. I knew there wasn't going to be much for him to offer so I just car in thinking he wasn't going to be great and I came out thinking that it was an atrocious step back for modern figures. I might be exaggerating but the figure didn't have good points to begin with because I am not a number one Magneto fan and his costume I despise. So with that said...

Let it go. LET IT GOOOOO!!! Seriously. It looks like he is doing that!

Marvel Legends BAF: Mandroid

Winter Soldier Cap, WWII Cap, Black Widow, Red Skull, Baron Zemo, Marvel Now Cap, Winter Soldier
Well after some months of hiatus from collecting BAFs, here I am with the Winter Soldier infinite series: Mandroid. It's Black Widow's fault why this unknown character from the comics wasn't completed earlier(or the scalpers' fault). So who is this guy? I had a misconception on who it is so I won't delve into that. Making a BAF like this who is not well known, I would assume that they put him in the movie or something, but I heard he wasn't. Which is kind of odd. I'm not even sure if Mandroid has made an appearance in comic books as of late but give him a S.H.I.E.L.D. logo and we have ourselves a movie BAF, right?!

To jump right into the figure, it's pretty obvious that the limbs are borrowed from none other than Iron Monger from the Iron Man 3 BAF wave. Repainted and some accessories sculpted in, the arms with the close fists are easily distinguishable along with his leg. Not going to say it's a bad choice since the Iron Monger is a robot indeed, but why this guy anyways/ I just don't get this BAF for a hard hitting movie like Winter Soldier.... though moving on, there are some things to enjoy in this figure, and the paint detail(or lack of) is not one of them. The molded in weapons on both arms, the turrets, all fresh and new addition to a recycled limb. The new torso and head is okay, but not bad.

Sentinel BAF
Mandroid still falls short in the size comparison with my last BAF completed which is Sentinel. Until I own Fin Fang Foom(Hasbro's giant BAF), I don't think I can say that any of Hasbro's BAFs can ever match up to some of Toybiz's Legends. I won't get into the smaller BAFs, but man, Mandroid is not a small average figure but to put him next to Sentinel....

Articulation wise, he has the same as Iron Monger(surprise!). His joints are slightly more warmed up so he can move quite easily compared to his limb-lendor predecessor! But just like the blue monger before him, he lacks a bit more than he should for his size.

Though some of the lack of movement can be forgiven with his added weapons. Unlike Iron Monger who had closed fists and truly had to have fire power insinuated, Mandroid can at least show 'action' shots with his attached weapons, right?

No seriously, he can be just like another War Machine who have had too much doughnuts for his own good, right?

Between the two, I still like Iron Monger better since he just has a bit more story to him that I know of. He made sense to be a BAF because he was one of Stark's main rivals until Ezekiel took over his father's mantle. Monger's coloring is also far superior in my opinion despite it not being amazing.

So there he is in the background somewhere in my Villain Shelf 1 along with Monger, U. Goblin, Modok, and other villains.... I know I have talked a lot of nonsense about this BAF because I really don't have a big wow factor in regards to him. I don't understand why it was him that was the BAF, but I suppose for the sake of saying I completed another BAF he was well worth it. For the figures that came to build his set, yes he was worth it. If the figures were different, I'd say he isn't worth it.
