DA3: I'll probably never do a review on this game. Then again, I can't remember I actually had the time and the incentive to do video game reviews. But... this game is definitely a great game to dive into right now!

The characters are still sublime(still miss Hawke, Merril, and Leliana in the party though) and it still has that great voice acting and interaction that Bioware is known for(Mass Effect is a testament of that I should say). The gameplay is still a bit of DA2 and the environment is vast! Great game! During my times of not delving into my writing or blogging about my collection, this game for sure has my attention!

FFX: Yeah I've had this game for over a year now and nothing... I'm not sure if I'll ever get to finish it but... yeah. It's somewhere in the mix! I want to get to FFX-2 HD someday too!

Skyrim: I mostly play this out of reference, but I do enjoy this game quite a bit still! That and there are trophies I am still fervent about and I want to fight that legendary dragon that has yet to cross my screen!

Ah yes. Finally a Video Game that will really entice me for a bit. Perhaps gaming became a very sparse hobby as of late, but there are still games in my radar that I am more than happy to indulge on. This game being one of them, of course! So how to start off with "D2" in the first few hours of gameplay?

Well....

The whimsical and somewhat downright juvenile humor remains!

The Disgeae charm to say the least! And that's just me saying it in the first chapter. I'm sure it is a perpetual flavor considering that all Disgeae sequels(despite them not being direct sequels for Laharl and crew) all have that same zest to them.

Gameplay remains the same. Special moves are just vibrant and just downright aesthetically funny as they were before in previous games. There are some 'new' flavors added, but it's still the same old song; something that should never be fully messed with since it's a system that works.

Customization remains starkly the same. There was some 'major difference' described in an article I read about this segment. I have yet to run across this 'major change'. Regardless, I invite the old system(duh) and whatever 'new' and innovative element they can add to this.

Artwork still there. A big improvement can be deciphered if one puts the original Disgeae and the direct sequel's artwork side to side. The witty lines are still prominent as well as it ties in with the humor part.

All in all, I'm enjoying this game. While it was only the 3rd one that I didn't much care for, to have Laharl, Etna, and Flonne back as the main three is more than an added perk! It's zenith and nostalgia in one!!!!

Yeah. Totally playing a Jrpg! I have lost all sense of hope for this genre when it comes to the mainstream like Final Fantasy and the such, but games like this are a hit or a complete miss. So far this game has a peculiar elegance to it that could make it a hit.

Melee and gun fighting on the whim, vibrant art and somewhat enticing plot, panty shots and so on are the pros of this game. Cons? Well it falls on the obnoxious and ludicrous part of what anime is all about! Sometimes things just don't make sense and the characters are a bit overzealous in their personality and so forth... Still. It has potential!

My Words On:

Story/Plot: There is a lot to say about a character that has the ability or the knowledge that s/he is in a video game/comic book. It's a very volatile idea that could either be FOR the character or against him/her, and for Deadpool's case, it has a bit of a receptive fan base. Something MUST be working for him since he is one of Marvel's cash cow; sometimes they are a bit overzealous on their usage of him. He can be up there with Wolverine and Spider-Man. Needless to say, High Moon took on the notion that Deadpool knows that he is in the game the whole entire time; in fact, he is in there making the game the whole entire time so, suffice it to say, it's a bit weird but in some oddball way, it works; kind of.

The game throws in a plethora of Deadpool fan service. Anyone particularly knowledgeable or at least have a vague idea of who and what Deadpool does will feel right at home when playing this game. His more prominent Marvel characters that he interacts with like Cable, Wolverine(of course), Domino, and Death are all in the game and enduring Wade's not so practical way of dealing with dire ordeals. And by the way, if one isn't familiar with any of the Marvel characters that he interacts with, there is a rather comical and a bit over the top(sometimes in a good way) 'few words' from Deadpool. Cable's is particularly my favorite one.

Who the fuck is that?! It's FUCKING CABLE!
The plot leans on the insipid side with an X-Men Villain(Mr. Sinister) defeats the X-Men, makes clones to take over the world, a man out of time comes in to warn Deapool(out of all people) about it and it's up to him to deter the future he has seen. Seen and read this a lot in the Comic books so a bit of a yawn, however it's the way Deadpool deals with it that makes it unique and at some aspect, entertaining. Truth to be told though, if it was just a norm, stoic, or the antihero protagonist, it probably would've been very boring but the saving grace is again, Deadpool's endeavor on making sure that 'his game' succeeds and gets all the attention in the world. Other than that, it's not that special.

7/10

Gameplay: I wish there was something that REALLY stands out with this game in regards to the gameplay, sadly, not so much. In a time where hack and slash and shoot them up games were rare, Deadpool might've gotten his wish of having a really awesome game, however since it's a now kind of game, Deadpool is contending against God of War, DmC, and even against his buddy's 'most' successful game, Wolverine Origins.

Melee is of course expected when someone has two blades adorning his back. While he has his classic katanas, Wade is also given two other melee weapons(which I didn't use because the dual katana look is what I was going for). Combinations between light and strong buttons are present. Blocking and evading are also in play which of course adheres to how Deadpool would deal with such(or doesn't). Combinations can be purchased through killing enemies and the flashier the kills the more points one gets to be able to purchase upgrades. When worse goes to worse up close, there are always the 'super moves' that one builds up through momentum. Again, getting DP points and purchasing skills will allow Wade to gain some of these lethal and wacky moves.

One can't have a true feel of a Deadpool game without the usage of guns, and Deadpool has access to them on the whim. I delved into the four he is allowed to carry with him, and then of course once in a while he can take hold of the bigger guns that are either part of a vehicle he uses or dropped by his enemies. Bullets aren't infinite and one has to be really a bit conservative at times; but replenishing his guns aren't that strenuous of a task since his enemies drop them like crazy. And the one gripe I have is that there is no cover fire! With the amount of gunfire that one runs across, having that option would make long range fights funner! More often than not, I always jumped into his blades which for the most part, one can almost get away with that. Oh yeah! He also has grenades, flash bangs, bear traps... etc. They weren't that useful to me, honestly.

Deadpool also adds in a lot of other elements of past games. 2D side scrolling makes an appearances and of course adhering to the comical ambiance that this game puts out. There are insane little 'side quests' that Deadpool delves into that is almost... well, if it isn't Deadpool it would completely throw me off from the game completely. You know there are a whole lot of QTE's but it was all lost in the insane and sometimes none coherent events of this game. If one just pays attention close enough and/or listen close enough, there are a myriad of homage and barbs towards older games. Since we are on the none cohesiveness subject, did I mention there are also stealth kills? It's really just another show case of Deadpool's not-so-serious way of dealing with his opponents, really.

In the end, Deadpool lacked a lot of things in combat and the other side stuff that usually enamors me about the game. Again with how much is crammed into a game, I would've been a bit careful about it, but simply because it is about Deadpool, I suppose I can forgive it. But a lot of such humor and persona did get a bit too much so suffice it to say, it wasn't the funnest game. With that...

7/10

Graphics: Honestly, it's one of the highlights for me in this game. And by no means does it do something ABOVE the norm of gaming aesthetics, I do take solace in the fact that it is impressive enough to stay on par with expectations. Deadpool looked like Deadpool, Psylocke had the great physique of a british woman stuck in an asian body, Domino i hott... blah blah blah. The "Comic CGI" was a good enough art for me to enjoy. Even the silliness that are rampaging about did its job to stand out within the gore and the explosions.

Yup. Deadpool has a '2 chainz' outfit on.
Voluptuousness is everywhere when it comes to Deadpool and of course his game pays homage to that. It is HIS GAME as he exuberantly pointed out the whole entire time. I wasn't at all disappointed with the visuals of this game one bit so at least on that side of the coin, I had a great time.

8/10

Difficulty: I don't think this game was necessarily HARD. There was only a spot or two that I found myself stuck for a few plays. Though the camera angles are a bit unreliable at times which made certain parts a bit more annoying than it should be. Deadpool's healing factor does have a moment or two that it stops, which if the player allows himself to be bombarded for far too long, dying is an option. Though it's nothing like hiding behind an area where the enemies' trajectory isn't hitting.

Yup, I've died a bit more than I want to admit.
Basically it's all about getting the timing down, which on its own isn't too hard. Upgrades are a must so be as whimsical as you can in combos(the variety is there; they're just not as fun), remember switch guns when one runs out(duh!), and of course look pass all the insanity of the game, then you have an easy time. Other than that, enjoy the time that Deadpool is a pervert.

7/10

Voice Acting/Audio: I had a good laugh every so often listening to Deadpool and all his wacky ways of seeing his 'world'. The same voice actor from Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Wade Wilson vocalized himself as the Merc With The Mouth rather well in this game. Though sadly, everyone else was bland and not entirely astonishing. Well, I must give credit to Logan's vocals though he did sound like the Canucklehead that we know. Adequate enough for the snikt'ing patrol, I would surmise. As for everyone else? Well, Sinister's voice didn't stand out, Rogue was mediocre, Psylocke said one thing and she was 'meh', don't remember Domino's, and Cable was off in my ears... suffice to say, VA wasn't a highlight for me. But to have Deadpool right on would equate to a good enough standings.

The audio in regards to background music and sound affects fluctuated in mood so I can't really pinpoint a time I did or didn't like it. Honestly, I would put it on the same wavelength as the voice acting. Not entirely great nor is it entirely bad. There is that boat scene where I enjoyed the classic music played as it serenaded Wade and his lover, Death. But other than that, I'd say it was a little bit above mediocre.

6/10

Overall: I can't sit here and say I had the best experience in a game that I thought would have a very promising return. Just this review alone was a in intervals and I took just as much break writing this as I did playing it. Truth to be told, it didn't do anything to stand out for me. Maybe because I'm not THAT big of a Deadpool fan, but still, I feel the gameplay really lacked something to stand out. Was it fun? Yeah I'd say so. It gave enough fan service to get me to chuckle or sit down and want to keep playing to find out what happens next. But only in some parts, most of the time it wasn't captivating at all.

It was for sure a Deadpool game and anyone who even has a remote idea of how Wade Wilson processes things in the Marvel Universe would get a good service out of this. If you abhor the Merc with the mouth, then this is for sure not something you should find yourself playing. There are plenty of flaws, but again, I'm more or less going to say I had the laughs and the pleasure of seeing the X-Men and Deadpool together in a much different atmosphere. Suffice it to say, replay value? I don't think I will pick it up UNLESS I am REALLY desperate to play something like this... so with that said!

CRASH!!!!!

Yup. Deadpool! What to say about this game... I have to say it's a Deadpool fan service. Anyone remotely interested in this jovially insane character would find something to enjoy. Have to say, it's got a few things it needs improvement. Still early in the game and I'm hoping that the gameplay gets a bit more .... what's the word? Innovative. BUT!

Fan service for sure.

The 'EPIC' conclusion? I hope it goes out with a bang and surpasses the first one by a few miles! Elated that they actually show gameplay!

Mordin Solus: "Someone Else Might've Gotten It Wrong"

BigBadToyStore
As I have listed off in my recent post(Minor Addition), I was planning on getting this one in my collection in some way or the other. Well, in good grace here he is, Mordin Solus! Or a bust form of him anyways(Hey Square Enix! How about a playarts Kai of the rest of the crew, huh?! You guys made 15 Sephiroths why not at least ONE of each of the Normandy crew?!). Honestly, if they made a bit more Mordin product, I'd probably get most of them(taking in the notion that they are to my liking) since Mordin is one character that I am enamored by! For a myriad of reasons, so this bust is a GREAT addition!

As expected from a bust, there isn't much to go of in regards to 'posing' or 'articulation'. The only real thing one can get out of that is the removable 'head piece' that Mordin wears and from my memory, he NEVER took off in the game. I think his other alternate outfits had this apparatus in it.

The details are pretty close to immaculate. He retains the scars in his bust form that he 'proudly' carries in the game. A true show that this Salarian isn't just some pijack scientist! He is from an elite force of this particular alien race. Though I do wish he has his arms doing some famous 'pondering' posture. Of course that would mean that this wouldn't be the 'frugal' price it would've been if more material was added. Still happy with it though.

But this little saying makes it Mordin authentic(it was already, but I'm just saying)! His famous and rather cathartic quote makes this piece just Right; any other less words in the bust would get it wrong.

Added to my Mass Effect shelf, it sure adds more 'color' to it. I'm thoroughly elated and not to mention it adds a less than awkward stance to my oddball (and rather dwarf like) Normandy! Anyways, that's that for now! Check that off the list and let's see where else we are going with this month in regards to addition to my Red Game Room!

"A Promise Unforgotten"

400 years he held his promise. Despite the plummet of his overbearing power, he kept his promise. He was adamant about keeping promises; it may be his flaw but it is also his strength. A vampire who swore to never drink blood because of a promise he made to a young woman ...

400 years and the promise is unforgotten.

A promise of a demon to a woman pure as an angel; and as she laid dying, even when her wings became hers, even if her purest of heart is disdained from her actions to save the many, They would be reunited; they would rekindle that ambiance and the inextricable magic that binds them together.

The Promise fulfilled.

Possibly my favorite Disgeae story; even more than Laharl, Etna, and Flonne's.

The Deadpool Game

Note: I first found out about this cover art through one of the blogs I am following: Like A Butterfly(A damn great blog about the femme fatale-european-asian-mutant-kunoichi-XForce-HottAss).

With that said, I have had my eyes on this game for a while now as I have stated in my last year's Game of The Year Awards(2012 gaming sessions). While I have no qualms with Deadpool and how much he is a cash cow for Marvel, I am also not the biggest fan of him. Again, I don't think he is Marvel's most abhorrent character, he is actually quite hilarious in some of the graphic novels I have of him, that and he does hang out with some high caliber Marvel characters(Psylocke, Wolverine, X-Men, X-Force, Avengers, etc.), it's just that he never really DID anything that is awe inspiring! He always gets his ass handed to him, more or less, but hey, again! Nothing to gripe over. Now talking about the game itself!

The game looks visceral which should concur with how Deadpool would be in a game! Marvel needs a little bit more mature ambiance game since their last one was Wolverine Origins(an okay game). From the looks of things there are a wide array of weapons the 'Merc with a Mouth' can obtain and use frivolously; from melee to firepower, it doesn't look like Wade Wilson will be lacking weaponry at all. Fun factor is there just from watching videos and looking at stills.  Story, it could go either way. Again, Deadpool is all about his humor and his 'knowledge' that he is a Comic Book(or for this case, a video game character), throw that in with a myriad of Marvel characters like Psylocke, Wolverine, Cable, Domino just to name the ones that are on the cover art box!

The antagonist is Mr. Sinister apparently! Again, this is where my ambivalence in the game's story comes in since Sinister is usually accompanied(too often) with Cyclops and Jean Grey. What I'm trying to get at is that I hope this game's story DOES revolve around Wade Wilson and not him just being a narrator and the eviscerating mascot. Anyways, that's my venting session about this game. Due to come out in June 25th of this year! So yes, Still elated that this game is in my radar and that I will be getting it as soon as it comes out!
