DC Icons: Supergirl Rebirth

I might be on a DC figure roll here, but let me just say that I am not building a massive army of DC Icons... just Harleys. BUT here we have another DC Icons in the form of Supergirl. NOW, I don't want to digress with my reviews on toys that much, but something happened between this figure leaving the BBTS factory and receiving it on my doorstep. So here's a link about that experience. Trust me, it's worth the read. Anyways, on to the figure.

The package is indeed similar to the Burnside Batgirl I bought earlier this year. And they do share a lot of similar qualities, both good and bad as I'll mention in this review.

And I have no intention of getting the rest of the figures in this set.

I think throughout the years, DC has struggled with Supergirl's costume. It's a fine line with giving her a 'feminine' look, while at the same time keeping the "Superman" influence alive. Sure they could have gone the easy route and just give Supergirl the same tights and let her curves do the talking, but... they decided to be bold and give her a skirt. That poses a problem (not for me, but... ya know):

Dandofuga
SaveSave
This version of Supergirl was (I believe) was during Jim Lee's run with Supergirl, my favorite version of the Maiden of Might. While she gained a fan following, the problem is the flouncy skirt was going to give too many panty shots! So? How to rectify that? They really didn't. But I digressed. The costume we have here just made the boots longer and made it less of a 'cheerleader' look. While I haven't read the comic books, from images I have seen, this is a pretty accurate sculpt of Kara from Rebirth. She does look a little older with the face we get, but the body is quite nice. The cape, while not articulated, is soft and pliable, and it does have some dynamic look.

The colors are quite nice. Though it might look bland, and it certainly is, the idea of this figure is to try and replicate her look in the Rebirth series, which from all the artwork I have seen, that comic book is not mean to be as vibrant or as 'flashy' as the New 52 or the continuity before it. My only real complaint is her hair. I think of Kara as having blond hair that sticks out a little bit. To have it so flat colored is a bit underwhelming. Still, the paint job is clean so I'll take it for sure.

You'll have to forgive the funny angle her heads are in! Due to the hair position, I can't get a good shot on these faces (that's why I do an upclose photo). She comes with alternate hands as well. Not a lot of accessories, but good enough. She also comes with this:

It's a transparent stand that does its job well enough. It has an angle and it can offer some levitating poses. Not dynamic flying poses, but it can do some cool things.

This is the first version of her face. Again, she looks a bit too calm and not as 'young' as I picture Supergirl. I think they were going for the TV series and the Rebirth look.

Her second head is more or less the same except that it has attachable heat-ray visions. Cool things to have since it offers a few more poses.

Articulation is mediocre. High mediocre and definitely passable. I was able to get some pretty good shots on her, so I'm not bummed out at all with what I got. Some are really classic Supergirl poses too. The one thing going for her is the giving material of her skirt, cape, and her hair (to an extent).

One thing I didn't try as hard was getting her into a flight pose that is every bit familiar a Kryptonian would do. Again, the neck barely allows her to look up and that cape of hers hinders her arms pointing in the direction a flying pose needs. The eyebeams are awesome though, but they are limited in what they offer. Still, glad to have them.

A good new design that is a happy medium. Passable paint job. Good sculpting. Standard articulation hindered by costume. Decent accessories. After the New Batgirl, I expected something more from this figure. But then again, that was a deluxe figure with a bike, this is the standard. For any Supergirl fan, this is probably a good grab. For casual fans, this is an easy pass. Still, this is the only Rebirth Supergirl figure I have seen so this might be a must unless we start seeing some more. I mostly consider this figure as a highly articualted statue.

POP: Supergirl(original)

Another POP addition to my collection. This time it's Supergirl. Now I'm not going to get too heavy with the Supergirl lore(I'm not 100% up to snuff with her histories, but I do know a couple about her different versions). This one can probably be considered as her 'classic', red skirt and all too 'superman' similarity with her top. Believe it or not, this particular version is one of the original superheroes in the Cinematic Universe. Anyways, let's get on with the figure.

Nothing new with the box. I'm pretty sure I'm not touching the rest of the set here, but for DC fans who collect POP, this is probably a good assembly.

Much like the comics in her time, Supergirl's costume is bright, simple shading, and almost conservative; still doesn't make sense that a girl capable of flight would be wearing a skirt. But regardless, it does capture her essence; make me realize though that there is a lack of blue or maybe it's her POP version that makes it look like that. The emblem on her chest is well done, as one can see. Definitely completes the costume. Kara didn't really go through a change in her emblem(from what I can see)

Back in the day, Kara was seen with both long straight blonde hair AND the short waves. Personally, to further distinguish between her 'classic' and 'cheerleader modern' version, I think it was a good idea to pick this hair style.

Now like most POP figures I get, she has the articulation on her neck(no bobbling, however).

Just for some comparison, here is Supergirl next to some of my other POPS(Daryl Dixon, Daedric Warrior, Alduin, and Coronation Elsa).

And here she is next to the ONLY DC POP I own at the moment. Wow, what a contrast in color schemes, yeah?

Finally got another DC POP! With the growing films DC has, I'm sure I'll be catching more of these guy along the way. I know Harley Quinn's set will be growing. All in all, I adore Kara's presence in my game room as a POP! She definitely brightens my DC Shelf(lacking space here!).

Bishoujo: Supergirl (redo pics)

Simply put, I didn't have the right camera to really capture some of these Bishoujo's beauty so I am going to be doing some of these 'redos'. So from the previous Review, here comes Bishoujo Supergirl!

I won't be giving as much words with these but I will elaborate on some assets with a thousand words:

Um.... yeah. And her pussy cat:

So there you go. I know my previous reviews may not have done enough words of justice, but you know, sometimes it's a good contrast to how far I've come with this hobby.

Damsel(s) of the Month:

There just comes a time when even the most 'special' month doesn't exactly promote adequate time or even energy to do something like my monthly Damsel picking. Truth to be told, this year hasn't exactly been the easiest of rides either so suffice to say I sort of just DiD a 'fail safe' plan and lean on my top few favorite Damsels in the past. But I'm going to do something slightly different. For anyone who visits this blog and doesn't know about my DA endeavors, well, this is the chance. I do plenty of fanfics. I've promoted a couple on this site more than once. Here we are again and three of my favorite gals got the treatment with the DiD commissions and fanfics. So... let's explore them:

Rikku(Final Fantasy X/X-2)

This spunky little Al Bhed has had her treatment way back in December 2013! It's pretty obvious that she has had a long standing love from me so she has had two commissioned art(both done by Kachima) and also got one of the longest fics I've ever written(and finished) called The Rival. Not only that, she also has another shared DiD related fic that also has a cover art not commissioned by me called Restrain Her(it's a request from the one who commissioned the art!). The Rival DiD feature the cute Al Bhed in a few bondage scenes and some are a bit... intense. Here's a part of it:

"Fumnfhuuu...?!"  Rikku calls out to no one in particular. The thought of being stuck like this with these strange thoughts and sensations is something that she can’t truly cope with. Though who would help her when she is in enemies’ territory?  Who would want to save a traitor of her own people? "Uuuuuhh!!!"

With her eyes rolling on the back of her head, Rikku can feel her hips meeting the tight line between her legs and at the same time, her bound hands are pulling on the same rope, enhancing the friction. She lets out another moan through the ball gag as she continues to strain against her own crotch rope… the act is obviously trying to get another release from the situation.  “What! What am I doing?!” Then the epiphany of what she is trying to do hits her and she immediately stops herself, slumping on her bonds and keeps herself as still as she can while lying on her side. What is she doing? Why is her body reacting this way? Another good question is why are her thoughts keep lingering towards the arousing way her body is reacting? Reaction despite limitations is becoming far more arousing. The ropes that once only served to keep her victim are now enhancing a feeling of lust. Every time she would move she can feel the silk feeling of her sweat drenched body… she would moan out of this sensation causing more drool to seep pass the ball gag confining her voice.

“Get a hold of yourself, Rikku! Get…” Just when things weren’t enough, something else starts to pervade that is originating from the device torturing her womanhood. The suction cup attached above her opening hasn’t done much thus why Rikku hasn’t really given it much thought, yet the moment it starts to send off some strange sensation, Rikku couldn’t help but gasp at the feeling. It’s a feeling that she can’t exactly describe; warmth that is spreading like a blanket all over her trussed up form is the best way she can define it, but it is something far more complicated than that. “Can’t think about it…! Uuhhh... uuuhhh...!!!! Ffupf!!!”

----------From The Rival IX-----------

Spider-Woman(Marvel)

Jessica Drew has been a long time familiar face to me. The first time I ever saw her was in her animated series that has little to no relation to her comic book counterpart. Regardless, despite her disappearance for decades, the first and the best Spider-Woman remained in my heart and her DiD adventures became an instant classic to many! Suffice to say, her Damsel of the Month role way back in April 2014 was years in the making and so is her fic I wrote called Faith and Glory with a shared commissioned cover art done by of course Kachima. Even though her first fic was short and 'sweet', it did have a bit of a homage to her chair scene. Also, I have plenty of ideas lined up for Ms. Drew! Some are in the works and I'm more than positive that I will be commissioning her in the future with some classic costume and her new one! But let's take a piece of her endeavors with the fic I wrote, shall we:

The revelation of what is stuffed in her mouth riled up more humiliation in what is already a degrading predicament; no wonder the taste was peculiar. Though Jessica has very little time to take that fact in since it’s not exactly the most important thing to worry about. Getting out of this predicament is her main priority and doing so requires help—help that she can’t provide for herself; her captor could help, though Shocker is pretty set in leaving her to her peril as he reaches for the door of her room. Tilting his head towards her direction, he gives her a wink before walking out of the room, leaving Jessica with the ominous device that is inconveniently clamped on her legs. With dread sinking faster and faster, Jessica tries mightily with whatever energy she can muster to try and rip out of the tape. Pulling and muscling through every direction she is allowed, Jessica finds out real quick that Shocker did a more than adequate job to leave her utterly helpless. Fatigue catches up quickly as his blast from earlier is still weighing heavily; her only real hope is that perhaps her strength can return just for a few moments, then she can rip her way out. If only luck is on her side…

Looking around frantically, Jessica tries to spot something that would help her predicament. Despite the mess on the ground from the ‘battle’ that occurred, there isn’t much that could help her nor would it be attainable due to her position. Looking down on the bomb, five minutes had already gone by and she can’t help but scream through her gag. With wide eyes, Jessica takes one more chance to look around, this time her eyes catching herself on the reflection of her closet mirror. Helpless. Captured. Defeated. Here she sits bound, gagged, and the brink of her own death and unable to escape. As if she didn’t know just how inadequate she is, here’s a mirror to convey to her just how pathetic she looks. Unable to truly peel her eyes away, Jessica gives a small tug on her legs, which of course gets nowhere. She pushes against the tape keeping her in a sitting down position causing the rippling sound of the tape to echo along with the beeping sound of the bomb; again getting nowhere, but the timer on the bomb is.

"HMMP!!!" Jessica screams as loudly as she can. "HMMP! HUMMHUUU HMMP MM PMMUHM!!!"

With the last energy she can muster, Jessica pulls against the tape, contorting her body in every direction allotted to her, shaking violently, and thrashing wildly, not so much as caring if she topples over. Of course she doesn’t frantically struggle for very long and eventually she tires herself out, hanging her head in shame while mewling pitifully against her gag.

--------From Faith and Glory II-------

Elsa(Frozen)

Oh yes the ever so popular Queen Elsa of Arendelle! My oh my! How can she not have made my list as one of my top favorites, right? Since her arrival in 2013, she has gained a fan following in all areas of the fandom. From fetish, to shippings, and of course to just the plain ole fascination. I myself am involved with a 'major' project that involves a crossover of the Frozen and the Skyrim world which is undoubtedly lacking some creativity with the title: Frozen Skyrim(though there is a distinct reason why it is called that and not just for a lack of thought). While the focus of the said fic isn't entirely on bondage, she did have a scene in one of the chapters; and she will probably have one more if I am thinking it right. And within that fic, there are a ton of cover arts with her and my character Onyx; She also received her own Damsel of the Month slot on March 2015! And the amount of DiD art for her for just the small amount of time of her 'existence' in public.... Well, it's not going to stop soon. So with that said, I also concocted a bit of a DiD related fic for her that is loosely tied to the Frozen Skyrim world:

Vocalizing her confusion, Elsa tries to shift her head to gain some kind of visual aid, but a strong grip prevents her from moving. Hands that was once feminine, soft despite strong, are now a bit larger, stronger… different. As she is pulled in closer, Elsa’s bound hands touched another person’s body—more muscular and definitely not as soft as her doppelganger. Once again, she tries to turn, fighting against the grip of this person and the awkwardness of being bound the way she is.

“You must have some kind of fascination for me,” Elsa’s eyes widen in dread as she recognizes the voice, “after all, you know how I love crazy.”

"HUNF?!"

“Prince Charming himself, your Majesty,” the red hair, green eyes, the slimy and almost snake-like feeling that come with being near him—to Elsa’s disdain, the evil look-alike is no longer. Instead Hans, the man responsible for a lot of the distortions in Elsa’s life, is the one so intimately close to her. “Judging from your reactions, you’re not too enthused with the idea of having me so close like this, are you?”

‘Close like this’ pertains to the fact that Elsa, stripped of her powers, helpless as can be, is subject to everything dreadful that could happen. Elsa’s reaction to the moment is natural of course. Finding new vigor and completely dissuaded against the idea of sensual thoughts, Elsa struggles mightily, pulling and twisting against the bonds that are holding her limbs captive, trying to put space between herself and Hans. Though as soon as she gave her efforts, Hans’ grip tightens and with very little effort, he pulls Elsa back in so that their skin would be so close that she can feel his body next to hers. Getting as far away from Hans(whether it be the real Hans or an arcane trick) is always a priority in Elsa’s mind so she continues to do so, especially when he is apparently naked; the feel of his bare skin next to hers is quite degrading and she tries to vocalize that despite the gag.

“What’s wrong?” as he speaks, his breath tickles her ear sending forth waves of unwanted sensation all throughout her body. “Are you really that resentful towards me?”

Elsa wanted to answer but the sudden feeling of his hands sliding between her legs only allows a groan through the gag—a futile cry of disapproval with what the moment would lead to, especially when his fingers starts to graze the form of her womanhood through her lingerie. Elsa shakes her head vehemently, yelling obscenities through her speech impediment, trying desperately to stop his hands from going further, but of course she is unable to. Then his fingers push in within the folds between her legs; a gentle but very firm push that causes her own undergarment to sink in. A forced moan escapes Elsa’s bound mouth; a deep and throaty moan; her lips working around the cloth cleaved between her lips to make such a sound. The unwanted feelings start to emerge once more despite Elsa’s hatred. Luckily her feet are bound the way they are, which of course forces her legs to become an obstruction for Hans’ hands.

“I’m not so sure what you want now. Do you want me to stop?”

There was a momentary pause but eventually Elsa is able to nod her head. "U-unf... ffupf..."

“I didn’t quite understand that, but it seems that you are insinuating me to stop,” Elsa grunts through her gag at Hans’ words. “So not the Prince of the Southern Isles then? How about that Elven boy you thought was cute?”

The question was odd and Elsa can’t quite pinpoint what Hans was talking about. Though amidst the confusion, the strong firm grip suddenly changes and what is now groping Elsa despite her qualms is a hand much softer, smoother, but still masculine in feel. Though regardless of all that, the touch is still violating and the moment the other arm snakes underneath her, Elsa is once again bombarded with another sensation as she now feels unwelcomed ministrations on both her crotch and her other breast.

“This one has yet to receive some attention,” trying to distinguish the voice is a bit of a task with the person now kneading on her breast while continuing what Hans was doing earlier with her womanhood, “I am sure it’s aching for some. I know I would like the feeling evened out.”

Pulling down the rest of her bra to accomplish the idea of an ‘evened out’ look, Elsa moans out loud as the person starts to squeeze her bare breast, massaging the round form before sliding the pressure to her exposed nipple, pinching with index and thumb, driving the bound Queen into a state of more unwanted pleasure. Of course this is paired up with the constant grazing of fingers up and down her sacred area, pressing the fabric of her undergarment deeper, soaking up the moisture that had started to accumulate between her legs.

Now obviously I have written more and as I have stated, I'll probably end up writing more of these gals here and there. Now, there are a couple of other favorites of mine that I have yet to get into a good DiD situation in words. While I have a long list, these gals are top on the said list so here's to hoping I get to write these gals in distress soon:

Harley Quinn

Supergirl

Wonder Woman
Spider-Gwen & Silk by LOZ
Marvel Girl by Ganassa

Long list, I know!

Lastly, check out this group based on DiD fan fiction: B0UNDARY

Plenty of things to read in that group! Comic Book damsels! Anime gals! Video Game hotties in bondage! Original characters! So much to read over there from a lot of different writers! Check it out!

Playarts Kai: Variant Supergirl

This was part of my spoils for 2014 Holiday. In fact, it was the big bang gift! The main event! To be completely honest, I knew it was going to be a good catch but as to how good? Well, let me just be blunt right this moment and say that I wasn't expecting to be this enamored with Supergirl's Playarts Kai rendition! I'll capsulize as to why and how I am highly excited to have her in my collection of course as the review goes on, but I will say that she will definitely be in my top catches for 2014(if I ever get to that "soon"). So without delaying, let's start.

Box wise? Well we have seen this before. It's HUGE! Playarts Kai have started this set and the figures are colossal! One thing is for sure: they're no 6 inches action figures for sure! The box does over exaggerate the figure, but to justify the box, the majority of these characters do have a few accessories to hold inside. There is a door to allow view of the figure inside, neatly laid out and the majority of her accessories can be seen. The back of the box doesn't really show much except it does have a 'shadow' of someone else you can buy. Sorry Clark, I'll pass on you! Kara on the other hand...

What is there to say about the details on this girl? I guess the first thing to really say is that she is a gorgeous figure from head to toe. I'll go into details with her face in the alternate face comparison, and while I am describing her figure, I'll try not to talk about her articulations(which are amazing), so let's just say there is something about the way they made Kara that really intrigues me. The costume, despite it being a 'variant' of her popular(non-New-25 outfit) really does look like Supergirl. I mean, they did a magnificent job making sure that when people see this figure they see Supergirl.

They did this thing where they made her skirt look less cheer leader-like and more of a 'battle skirt'; In fact, the rest of her clothing is more or less 'armor' and metallic feel to it, which of course makes me question as to WHY Supergirl would need armor since she is practically bulletproof.  Regardless, the visuals of the 'armor' tights really does come off as metallic with all the different shades of blue put into it. The red on the cape(the plastic one) really does work well with the boots and the "S" and of course the perfect trim on gold does finish the trick on making it still concur with the 'classic' costume. Flesh tone is done quite well and with a well sculpted and painted hair, it just compliments the fit of the whole figure; sexy and epic all in one body. Speaking of body, she is one smoking kryptonian gal.

Definitely NOT a teenager's body though.

When it comes to accessories, Supergirl has a few. She has two faces, 3 pair of hands, a sword, a special affect 'comic book' action, and probably my favorite Playarts Kai addition up to date: her cloth cape with wiring articulation! Let's talk about these accessories:

I do wish they gave us more faces with Kara, but the two that are supplied does a good job. We have a calm and happy Kara and an angry "heat ray" vision variant. It seems to be in the polar opposites so something in between, like a serious NONE heat ray face would've been nice.

The idea of the special affect comic book text is a neat idea! Superman Variant PAK also has this one(a different text and affect), though sadly, it's the least used of her accessory for my photoshoot. Oh, while I never took a picture of it, Supergirl does come with the standard(so it seems) Playarts Kai stands that are probably one of the most 'complex' stands that I have come across with. Requires the more assembly, I should add.

For a girl that is super strong, can cause agonizing cold winds with her breath, melt someone with heat ray vision, see through walls with X-ray vision, faster than a speeding bullet, bullet proof, and just smoking hott, why would she have a sword?! It's quite unorthodox in some ways but reading the box description, it is actually an amazon blade that pays homage to one particular story line when Wonder Woman took Kara to her island and trained her with sword art. One thing obvious from the picture above is that one of the alternate hand is just for the sake of 'holding' the sheathe/or sheathed blade. Makes for great pictures like her about to take the blade out, or her just merely holding the sheathe. There is also a peg hole on her left thigh so that Supergirl can carry her blade like a real warrior. It's a neat addition and the details on the blade adheres to her patriotic color!

Last but not least on the list of her accessory are the capes. First, it's pretty obvious that I used the cloth one far more than I did the plastic and I'll explain, but not before delving on what aesthetic satisfaction the plastic cape offers.

This plastic cape is most likely the definitive cape for this figure in terms of looks. The dark crimson color really ties in with her boots, the "S" emblem, and the 'short mini cape' that is attached to the figure by default. I'd say they had every intention of making this the 'main' cape with how much it concurs with the shade of red but to me there is one problem: the stand can't support the weight(least I have yet to figure out a way to get away from that problem). Which is the main qualm I had with the Playarts Kai Batman, honestly.

Now the 'cloth' cape did the best it can to replicate the plastic color. Honestly, it may not be immaculate to the color of the plastic, but it does the job well enough! The two things I really love about this is that it's lighter, which means Supergirl's stand can hold her now with ease! But the main reason for this being amazing is that it contains a bendy wire inside that allows articulation! Okay so the plastic cape has articulation itself but THIS makes it far more dynamic! It has more capabilities of duplicating some super poses!

Speaking of articulation! It will come to no surprise for some of you that Kara is very articulated. Playarts Kai(and imports in general) have a great way to making sure our highly spent well earned money are put to good use. With the expected movement, Supergirl's body does all of them. Her ab crunch and her waist movement allows for some pretty wide range so the super fly pose does come naturally. The skirt is a pliable material which doesn't hinder leg movements that much and a small addition but a great one, the sheathe does have movement as well. Her hair has articulation as well, which isn't the best, but one can't truly complain about that.

For fun, I did a duplication pose with her Bishoujo Supergirl counterpart and once can see that she almost had it. Of course, Kara the bishoujo does sensuality a bit better as well as the pantsu. But, it's not bad articulation at all for PAK Kara! Still a magnificent piece and I can't really say a lot in this department since I believe the pictures posted should speak for it.

Next to Batman, I think Supergirl is a better Playarts Kai variant for a myriad of reasons: accessories, that alternate cape, two faces, more hands, and sexier. Sorry Bruce, I ain't into your hunkin "Konroy" voice.

In conclusion, this toy is much more than what I expected it to be. I absolutely love this figure and had every bit of fun posing her, taking pics of her, and just all in all, having her as a new addition to my DC shelf. Though as one can see, I am now losing more space that I don't already have when it comes to this shelf. If I decide to get more Playarts Kai..... I'm going to have to make a few changes here. Welps, that's it for now!
