ML Space Venom BAF: Spider-Bitch

WHOA! Spider-Bitch? Well, in the grim world of Old Man Logan, this Spider-Gal is the daughter of Hawkeye and Spider-Man's youngest daughter.... Tonya Parker.... erm. Okay, let's just review the toy!

 I never had the incentive to finish this set. Though I want to get as many Spider-Verse related characters in my Spiderverse shelf. Silk is a must... but she is a freaking leg and an arm! Eventually, I'll get her since she is a big point in the Spiderverse storyline; she was created for the Spiderverse storyline, it seems. I don't know.

Now the design of Spider-Bitch isn't as revolutionary or daring as let's say Spider-Gwen. It's actually a very grounded "Spider-Man/Spider-Girl" familiar design. Though what makes her somewhat unique is her skin color, the exposure of her hair, and half of her face.

Hasbro did a good enough job copying her looks from the comic books. The color is there, the figure body is there, it's good. I won't complain about the aesthetics since Hasbro has pretty much gotten the hang of female figures, at least in terms of making them visually appealing.

BUT, this figure is lacking in accessories. THIS is the only thing you get from her! A freaking BAF piece. I don't have anything to say beyond that.

Her poseability and fun factor will all depend on what accessories you have to spruce up this figure. Since she comes with NO guns, no webbing, no stands, you get a vanilla figure with standard Hasbro articulation.

Lack of alternate hands and or face really takes away from this figure. It's like Hasbro just threw this figure together because she was 'easy' to create. Yes, this mold is recycled.

So this is an older figure; least it's not within Hasbro's release in the year. So it's a bit outdated and it suffers the whole 'lack of accessories' and thoughts department. Still, if anyone is a Spiderverse fan, this is kind of a must. She wasn't a big character in that storyline, but she was IN the storyline. And to have her as an addition, is cool and this figure doesn't do a great job representing a good figure, but at least she looks good.

ARTFX+Statue(Kotobukiya): Marvel NOW Spider-Gwen

Another statue that has been part of my to review pile for some time, the Kotobukiya "ARTFX+Statue", Spider-Gwen. Man, that title alone is enough of a cluster. Anyways, it's a Spider-Gwen statue that I thought was cool, simple, and worthy to be in my collection. So let's check her out.

This is my first ARTFX statue in my collection so the box is a new sight. It's pretty cool looking.

You get the Spider-Gwen symbol on one side with some comic book artwork surrounding it, and other the other side, the main art and pose for the Spider-Gwen statue.

The other side of the box is a showcase of the figure itself with its masked and unmasked face.

What you see is what you get in here. Not much options in terms of 'variations' but you don't really need that much. I'll talk about what would have made the die-hard fan of Spider-Gwen happy in a little bit but for now let's look at the stand.

It's a pretty cool looking stand. Nicely painted and clean. The whole thing is metal too and it serves a purpose other than adding weight and price. The bottom of Gwen's feet have magnets on them, so that means there's no awkward peg holes for it.

The statue itself is well done. Talking about the choice of pose, it's definitely Spider-Y with a little hint of fan service. Okay, not a little, but hey, it serves a purpose and it goes in line with the character's personality and daily gestures. Looks like she is getting ready to shoot a web too with that left hand almost positioned for that traditional: thwip pose!

Her sculpt is also well done. With how skin tight her costume is, it hugs her assets well enough. THat leg too! No complaint in this department.

The paint is consistent and it matches the character well! The base compliments the figure in general, and like I said, no imperfections from what I can see and definitely stays true to the characters color palettes.

There is of course the interchangeable variant face that we get with Gwen Stacy's face is revealed. I'm honestly not a big fan of it. It's not bad, it's just not as pretty or how I picture Gwen to be. Besides, I like her masked version so much more than this one. Maybe a version where we can pull her hood down and have a full head would be a nice touch. But I probably would have chosen the masked version regardless anyways.

One thing I'd like to add is that her masked version is a bit loose on the shoulders. Easy to come off if I wiggle it enough. But it's not that big of an issue as long as she stays dormant. It's a statue, not an action figure; besides, I don't play with my action figures anymore.

And here are my other Spider-Gwen related figures. It's not my intent to make a mini army of Gwen, but I have to say that I like her designs and most figures of her entice me!

All in all, I truly like this! Not going to be winning statue of the year or anything like that, but it's a welcome addition for sure. 

ML Sandman BAF: Spider-Man 2099

A new ML review post! WOW! Yes, I'm still collecting these as I had mentioned before! I'm mostly doing a lot of collecting on my favorite character/s and/or groups. Obviously, I love the Spiderverse run so here's another one to add to the various Spider-Men/Women/Gals out there! Let's check out the box!

So nothing's change in the area of Marvel Legends boxes. As you can see, he is a running change for a figure I already have as well: Spider-UK.

Now as far as the figure itself, this is a "brand" new costume for Miguel O'Hara. He's had that classic blue and red for a long time now and giving him a new look was a must. Ass a figure, it looks aesthetically pleasing, honestly. This is not the same sculpt as Spider-UK, but it is a new one, or at least a more recent one than the "Bucky-Cap" mold that they all-too-often use!

The coloring on this guy, as a choice for the creator of this new dud, it's pretty sweet. It ventures away from the typical Spider-Man(or Spider-Men, since there are a dozen out just in the main line: Scarlet Spiders, Miles, Peter, etc...). They pulled off the combination of white and metallic red in this figure quite well and for the most part, it's pretty clean throughout the figure.

Of course in the accessory department, Miguel over here sucks and lacks!  A common thing with MLs even to this day so I won't gripe over it for too long.

And while I didn't spend enough time posing him around, I'd say he is pretty good in the articulation department. He can do a lot of the acrobatic poses that one would want out of a Spider-Man figure, but still lacking in his leg movements. But this Spider-Man, or Spider-Man 2099 altogether spends a lot of time flying too so, one can accomplish that.

I'm not going to say that this is an exciting catch. The new costume is a great addition to the Spider-Man galore changes. For anyone looking to build a Spider-Men army, this is a must! I'd say it's a cool addition to the Spiderverse shelf I have. Not great, but good enough! 

ML Sandman BAF: Spider-UK

It's been some time since I have had my hands on a Marvel Legends; ending that long hiatus on Hasbro's line is a Spiderverse individual: Spider-UK. While he wasn't the most interesting of the Spiderverse crew, he was one of the most essential. I also like the way they made his costume unique but very familiar within the theme of Peter Parker's blue and red duds. Let's check out William Braddock's Marvel Legends form, shall we(Yes, Braddock. Betsy Braddock. Brian Braddock)?

Standard box. But as you can see from this, the "accessory" already takes almost half the box.

I was hoping I'd find the 2099 Spidey though! Again, this is more or less to build my Spiderverse shelf!

Right off the get go I will point out that this is a brand new mold. I believe it was introduced on this wave with Spider-UK and (new)Spider-Man 2099. It's not a bad mold and it's not as skinny as the usual Spider-Man molds we have received in the past. While it works fairly well for a 'not regular' Spider-Man, I do think that they need to adust the 'wrinkled' material detail on his body; ex: on his arms and legs. Spider-Men who typically follow the mold of a Spider-man base USUALLY wear tights. Having lose tights beats the idea of.... tights.

For the most part the paint that we have for him is clean. I do like the distinguishable Brittain flag emblem on his torso. The unique Spider logo on his back is pretty cool. While there are a few imperfections on the paint, I'd say for the most part he stays consistent. It also helps that he does lack some paint job, as expected.

One very detailed BAF piece is all he gets. I am not getting this Sandman so this doesn't do anything for me. Good job Hasbro on the lack of accessories!

Now as I always mention in my figure reviews that has to do with Hasbro, it's hard to get into a photoshoot when there is a lot to yearn for; lack of accessories and various hands really does take away from this figure. And with Hasbro yet to try and poke at the idea of giving these web-heads some web effects, then I will just have to surmise that we will keep getting lackluster Spider-man accessories.

Range of movement wise, for a new mold, he does retain most of what we expect from the familiar molds. The one thing that is odd about him is that there are some shoulder issues that I can't seem to get full range for him to bring his arms up from the side. Basically, I can't seem to make him form a 'T', which for some poses I was trying to accomplish is rather disappointing. But without those extra hands or any accessory like that, I was pretty much lacking something anyways.

All in all, it's not that great of a figure, but it's a neat addition to my Spiderverse shelf. If I didn't enjoy the Spiderverse story line so much, I probably would have skipped out on this figure altogether.
