POP: Spider-Gwen

It's been a poptastic week... no that's lame. It's popping in here! No. Once you pop, you never go... alright that's enough of that. Basically what I am saying is that this month seems like a Pop(py) kind of month! But to digress, I will be posting something this month about my spoils. Not grand, but a whole lot of things I haven't collected in a while and some of them are going to be POP! So... Spider-Gwen as a POP. I have to say, for her to get a POP before any of the other Spider-Women, BEFORE Jessica Drew is a bit unsettling. But.... let's move on to the review.

So I find it funny that the back of the box features some classic characters (with the exception of Carol who is in her Captain Marvel costume and not Ms. Marvel, everyone is in classic fitter) and then we have Spider-Gwen. Odd placing. I would think she'd be part of a Spider-Verse wave.

One of the things that really draws me in to Spider-Gwen is her costume design. It is definitely one of the better Spider-Women outfits out there; a distant second to Jessica Drew's classic/and new outfit. The colors, the simplicity, it all worked well with each other and it translated well to POP version.

Then the hood! People, myself included, fell in love with that hood of hers! She just looks awesome! Of course there are other things like Gwen Stacy being a fan favorite despite her surprisingly staying dead(for the most part). Maybe Emma Stone had something to do with that popularity? Oh and her as a character in her world is pretty awesome.

Here she is next to the Marvel Legends version. The POP has a lighter tint on the hood and eyes; ML's version looks magenta almost.

Two things I want to point out with Gwen is that she is a bobble head like Deadpool over here. Also she continues the trend of the stand like Harley has.

My major gripe with a Spider-Gwen POP is mostly my love for Jessica Drew. It would have been more fitting that the first and the best Spider-Woman gets a POP first(traditional costume or new), but sadly, she isn't on the trend like Gwen is. Jessica is more old school and has fan following from those days while Gwen definitely hits the viral web because she is more 'this modern day teenager' deal. But she is a cool POP. There are 2 other versions of her(hooded unmasked, and hood down unmasked), but I'm not sure if I will be going all out and getting all three. I think this is the definitive Spider-Gwen even if everyone loves to draw her with her mask off.

Secret Identity anyone?
