ML Sandman BAF: Spider-UK

It's been some time since I have had my hands on a Marvel Legends; ending that long hiatus on Hasbro's line is a Spiderverse individual: Spider-UK. While he wasn't the most interesting of the Spiderverse crew, he was one of the most essential. I also like the way they made his costume unique but very familiar within the theme of Peter Parker's blue and red duds. Let's check out William Braddock's Marvel Legends form, shall we(Yes, Braddock. Betsy Braddock. Brian Braddock)?

Standard box. But as you can see from this, the "accessory" already takes almost half the box.

I was hoping I'd find the 2099 Spidey though! Again, this is more or less to build my Spiderverse shelf!

Right off the get go I will point out that this is a brand new mold. I believe it was introduced on this wave with Spider-UK and (new)Spider-Man 2099. It's not a bad mold and it's not as skinny as the usual Spider-Man molds we have received in the past. While it works fairly well for a 'not regular' Spider-Man, I do think that they need to adust the 'wrinkled' material detail on his body; ex: on his arms and legs. Spider-Men who typically follow the mold of a Spider-man base USUALLY wear tights. Having lose tights beats the idea of.... tights.

For the most part the paint that we have for him is clean. I do like the distinguishable Brittain flag emblem on his torso. The unique Spider logo on his back is pretty cool. While there are a few imperfections on the paint, I'd say for the most part he stays consistent. It also helps that he does lack some paint job, as expected.

One very detailed BAF piece is all he gets. I am not getting this Sandman so this doesn't do anything for me. Good job Hasbro on the lack of accessories!

Now as I always mention in my figure reviews that has to do with Hasbro, it's hard to get into a photoshoot when there is a lot to yearn for; lack of accessories and various hands really does take away from this figure. And with Hasbro yet to try and poke at the idea of giving these web-heads some web effects, then I will just have to surmise that we will keep getting lackluster Spider-man accessories.

Range of movement wise, for a new mold, he does retain most of what we expect from the familiar molds. The one thing that is odd about him is that there are some shoulder issues that I can't seem to get full range for him to bring his arms up from the side. Basically, I can't seem to make him form a 'T', which for some poses I was trying to accomplish is rather disappointing. But without those extra hands or any accessory like that, I was pretty much lacking something anyways.

All in all, it's not that great of a figure, but it's a neat addition to my Spiderverse shelf. If I didn't enjoy the Spiderverse story line so much, I probably would have skipped out on this figure altogether.

Collection Update

Before I list the 'coming' additions, I might as well show who ARE in my collection that came late March. Yes that is another POP in the form of Peebee from ME: Andromeda. And I FINALLY own Kiritsugu, which I am excited to open and review. And to fluff up my Spiderverse collection, here comes Spider-UK. I'm a bit hesitant to open these for reasons... I am not yet ready to convey. When I do open them, obviously I'll review them like normal. Now, on to the upcoming additions that I most likely will follow through. All are preordered! 

First, let me start out by saying that I'm not a big fan of Tom Holland Spider-man for reasons of my own. I think the costume looks nice though so that's why he's on the list!

I've always wanted a good Supergirl figure and DC Icons seems to be able to deliver on that. And yes, a whole lot of Harleys in this list AND a couple of Spider-Gwens.

And I still have yet to get the Mafex Suicide Squad Harley! It's been damn near a whole year! I wonder if the delay is because they are trying to improve on their product? I hope so. And yes, finally! A Chun Li figure coming up with some awesome accessories and articulation.

This set I want because it has a lot of characters I like. The BAF is pretty unique too so I can't complain all in all. Admitedly, Legends' prices are going up higher than I would like but hey... what can I do, right? So those are the 'for sure' ones. I do have a long list I plan on getting, whether by this year or the next. I swear, somewhere along the line I might have to stop... seriously. 

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer #2 (2017)

I wonder how they are going to pull off Ego(the being that was supposed to be a LIVING planet). Still, I'm terribly excited for this movie.

Wonder Woman.

Power Rangers.

Beauty and the Beast.

Kong Skull Island. 

Starting to warm up to Spider-Man: Homecoming.

ML Sandman BAF: Black Suit/Symbiote Spider-Man

Definitely one of my favorite Spider-Man costumes! The Black Spider-Man is simple and genius all at the same time. It was both cloth and a living organism and not to mention, it also became Venom, formerly one of my favorite Marvel characters(way back when). So here's his modern age action figure! So does he contend?

Right off the bat I already know that I will not be getting this wave, but with the amount of figures I do want, I might just cave in. We will see. I'm always on the look out for additions to my Spiderverse shelf, but it's getting ridiculous.

I won't talk a lot about the mold since it's a familiar one. It's a mixture between Pizza Spidey and Scarlet Spidey, so enough said about that.

Right off the get go, it's a full on black plastic so there is not much to talk about when it comes to the paint job. The white for the eyes, the symbol, and the top of the hand are clean; something that a lot of Black Spidey figures suffer with how strong the black color is on the plastic. Luckily mine have pretty strong layers of white paint on all areas. They were really going for the symbiote Spidey here more than the cloth Black Spidey.

He gets two pair of hands that do fit the character well. Some people might say he needs a 'thwiping' hand, but considering its suppose to be more a Symbiote Spider-Man, the fists do well. I do wish there was an alternate head that shows the symbiote-like face or arms that are showing the symbiote fading away. Something. Or black webbing coming out of his hand. Oher than that, it's alright. The Sandman accessories for the BAF looks nice.

His articulation should be familiar by now as he retains the mold's range of movements(Pizza Spidey's range is definitely greater than Scarlet Spidey since Ben had the sweater to hinder the shoulder joints). Again, like a broken record, they need to do something about those legs that will allow more Spider-y like poses. Also as a note, his joints get loose a lot more than any other Spider-Man figures I have had in the past. I've seen and heard more than once that there is a lot of QC in this figure. Unfortunately, this is mine.

And without any kind of webbing accessories or anything to change things up, Black Spidey is lacking some fun factor.

But that doesn't mean he is not without his fun factor.

I will tell you right now, he is probably the best 6 inch figure that we got from both Hasbro(Rulk series) and Toybiz.

In conclusion, I had my fun with this figure. I do wish he had more to offer, but I am not at all disappointed. The Black Spider-Man is one of my favorite outfits of Spidey; definitely more than the red and blue. So to have an updated and modern version of this suit is more than welcome. Now I wish Iron Spider gets one! 

POP: Big Time Spider(Stealth Spider-Man)

Sneaking his way with his new stealth suit, Big Time Spider-Man is the newest addition to my POP collection! You guys know the deal! It's time to check this guy out!

Stealth Spider-Man over here is a exclusive edition for Hot Topic so there's no one else the back to be listed. Though he is the 195th supposedly in the ranks, though I'm pretty sure this mold has been used by a Spidey before, me thinks.

The "Big Time" Stealth Suit of Spider-Man is your Black Symbiote Spidey with neon green coloring in place of the white. Stealth means bright neon green, apparently. It's a cool gimmick though outside the definition of what this costume is supposed to represent.

And he is supposed to be glow in the dark. I haven't had the chance to get the green part to absorb enough sunlight. Make sense, though; neon green in the dark means invisibility.

I don't have any other Big Time Spider-Man figures to compare. And truth to be told, I like this costume. I never really read the issues when he wore it, but it's a cool looking suit to add to Spidey's large collection of tights. 

ML Venom Space Knight BAF: Spider-Man(Miles Morales)

Just to be clear, I bought this guy a couple of months ago but never got the chance to review him because work was so busy! But now I get the moments and I at least wanted to get him in because he is part of my 2016 Marvel Legends addition. So, let's check this out.

Now I believe this is the first figure I got from this BAF wave. Honestly, I'm not interested in finishing this set. I might want to get Silk and Spider-Bitch, but the other figures and the BAF itself are not anywhere near interesting. But Miles is definitely an interesting one.

I know a little bit about this character but I won't get heavily informative since the Ultimate Universe was something I did not really get into. Sure it's the base of the MU, but it didn't click with me. But Spider-Man Miles Morales definitely clung on to a lot of people and for me, it's his costume. Red and Black Spidey is always my favorite, thus why the Superior Spider-Man always clicked with me. While this guy has no details in paint, he is well done with the red decal and the white really sticks out. Looks awesome.

One of the things that really makes this figure stand out is the fact that he is a brand new mold and he is for the teenager character. Miles Morales is a new and younger Spider-Man who was once in the Ultimate Universe, but now he is with the rest the mainstream Marvel. It's a great mold, and definitely a great comparison with the 'older' Peter Parker.

Just to show it now, here's the comparison between Miles and Parker(Pizza Spidey). One can for sure see the difference and distinguish an older character and a younger one. It's a good contrast, and I'm glad Hasbro at least pays attention to this difference, adding to the variety of characters.

Miles comes with a decent amount of accessories. As all Spider-Men figures goes, they should have all these options for hands and since it's Miles Morales, he gets an alternate head along with the BAF peice of Venom Space Knight. I was somewhat excited for the maskless face, I wasn't planning on posing him with it on but you know, options are great. BUT...

A good variety is good. It shows that Hasbro pays attention to the character details. But care to point out what is wrong with this variant head. Can't? Well...

SURELY one can point out the QC in this one. Miles Morales is a young Spider-man; he could technically be called Spider-Boy, so with that said, why does he have receiving hairline? Did this Spider-Man had too much miles on him? PUN! He won't be doing any acrobatics for sure, least not in the same finesse as Miles would be. Should I call him Old-Boy Spidey? Or something? Honestly, I find this QC more hilarious and I can't be mad. After all, I won't be using this for display.

So anyways, as far as the figure and its articulation goes, for a new mold, it still goes hand in hand with your standard average sized Marvel Legends. That's generally a good thing, but it also inherits some of the standard articulation problems. I would wish to one day have a Spider-Man figure that can do the splits, can do some web slinging poses, and all that. I would like that on my Spider-Women based figures as well. Still, Miles performs rather well under the circumstances.

He definitely is a way better Ultimate Spider-Man figure than the old one I bought a LONG time ago.

Despite the QC issue of hte variant head, I think this is a pretty awesome figure. I like how Miles' Spider-Man outfit looks even if I am not that interested in the character. Marvel and DC has a thing for multiplying popular characters like Batman, Superman, Batgirls, Spider-Man, Deadpool, and now the Spider-Women are joining ranks. Heck, there are even four Wolverine based charaters running around. With all that said, it's good to have variety though, even if some characters are lackluster for me. Figure wise, he's a good addition to my Spiderverse shelf.
