ML Venom Space Knight BAF: Spider-Man(Miles Morales)

Just to be clear, I bought this guy a couple of months ago but never got the chance to review him because work was so busy! But now I get the moments and I at least wanted to get him in because he is part of my 2016 Marvel Legends addition. So, let's check this out.

Now I believe this is the first figure I got from this BAF wave. Honestly, I'm not interested in finishing this set. I might want to get Silk and Spider-Bitch, but the other figures and the BAF itself are not anywhere near interesting. But Miles is definitely an interesting one.

I know a little bit about this character but I won't get heavily informative since the Ultimate Universe was something I did not really get into. Sure it's the base of the MU, but it didn't click with me. But Spider-Man Miles Morales definitely clung on to a lot of people and for me, it's his costume. Red and Black Spidey is always my favorite, thus why the Superior Spider-Man always clicked with me. While this guy has no details in paint, he is well done with the red decal and the white really sticks out. Looks awesome.

One of the things that really makes this figure stand out is the fact that he is a brand new mold and he is for the teenager character. Miles Morales is a new and younger Spider-Man who was once in the Ultimate Universe, but now he is with the rest the mainstream Marvel. It's a great mold, and definitely a great comparison with the 'older' Peter Parker.

Just to show it now, here's the comparison between Miles and Parker(Pizza Spidey). One can for sure see the difference and distinguish an older character and a younger one. It's a good contrast, and I'm glad Hasbro at least pays attention to this difference, adding to the variety of characters.

Miles comes with a decent amount of accessories. As all Spider-Men figures goes, they should have all these options for hands and since it's Miles Morales, he gets an alternate head along with the BAF peice of Venom Space Knight. I was somewhat excited for the maskless face, I wasn't planning on posing him with it on but you know, options are great. BUT...

A good variety is good. It shows that Hasbro pays attention to the character details. But care to point out what is wrong with this variant head. Can't? Well...

SURELY one can point out the QC in this one. Miles Morales is a young Spider-man; he could technically be called Spider-Boy, so with that said, why does he have receiving hairline? Did this Spider-Man had too much miles on him? PUN! He won't be doing any acrobatics for sure, least not in the same finesse as Miles would be. Should I call him Old-Boy Spidey? Or something? Honestly, I find this QC more hilarious and I can't be mad. After all, I won't be using this for display.

So anyways, as far as the figure and its articulation goes, for a new mold, it still goes hand in hand with your standard average sized Marvel Legends. That's generally a good thing, but it also inherits some of the standard articulation problems. I would wish to one day have a Spider-Man figure that can do the splits, can do some web slinging poses, and all that. I would like that on my Spider-Women based figures as well. Still, Miles performs rather well under the circumstances.

He definitely is a way better Ultimate Spider-Man figure than the old one I bought a LONG time ago.

Despite the QC issue of hte variant head, I think this is a pretty awesome figure. I like how Miles' Spider-Man outfit looks even if I am not that interested in the character. Marvel and DC has a thing for multiplying popular characters like Batman, Superman, Batgirls, Spider-Man, Deadpool, and now the Spider-Women are joining ranks. Heck, there are even four Wolverine based charaters running around. With all that said, it's good to have variety though, even if some characters are lackluster for me. Figure wise, he's a good addition to my Spiderverse shelf.

DuDs: Spider-Gwen Belt

Well, here we are with another seatbelt in my wardrobe! Of course Spider-Gwen would be getting one sooner than later, but hey, who's complaining right? So let's check this out.

The last DuDs I had that was belt related was none other than Jessica Drew, the Spider-Woman herself. With Spider-Gwen rising up the popularity charts, it would be inevitable for Gwen to gain so much attention in all avenue of merchandise, belt included (almost disappointed at Marvel with the lack of Jessica Drew stuff). I was hoping they would have the 'Marvel' logo, but we instead get the masked Spider-Gwen face.

It's a seatbelt belt like the Spider-Woman one, so I need not show that part of the belt. I will however just showcase the images used; I believe they are different artists, and Gwen is popular to be drawn(official and fanart) without her mask on, so here you go.

Makes me wonder just how Gwen really does manage to fit all that hair in. And this is the second image of her masked face other than the one on the buckle itself.

All in all, I like this belt. It has more of a blue'ish and black tint to it compared to my previous belt which is dominantly red and white. It's a good addition and I'll find myself wearing this for sure.

Happy New Year's 2017

I guess just to get it ou of the way: this year was definitely better than 2015 for me. This year had growth, had more prosperity, and definitely a year where I learned a lot. It wasn't by any means perfect, but it was definitely something I can say was an improvement, empowering, and something I can look back and say: "so that's how it really is, huh?". I won't go to heavy details with the good and the bad, what is and what isn't, what wasn't and what should be... I can, I should... but I won't anymore. There might be one more usual post of "Masterless and Rage" just to finish 2016 off, but other than that, I have surprisingly (and slowly) gotten numb to people's repeated antics. People are recycled offenders and they will always do what had always been done and 2016 just... reaffirmed that. While I felt the blunt of each blow, as I walked through the closing days, I took each step upright and realized that....

People, events, tragedy, and pain are all just part of this life. People will be people. Things will happen. Tragedy will come down and we must all endure pain and walk it off(some endure more than others, while others don't endure at all). We can't do anything about it this lifetime.

But perhaps the next. 

So what does that mean for this page? Well, I think I'm going to focus on the things I enjoy the most:

That's right. Collecting. Gaming. Reviewing. Reading. WRITING. Sexy Damsels in ropes. Commissions. It is what makes me happy (well, not the main thing) so I will continue this journey with those things in mind. I might have ended my "Damsel of the Month" theme in 2016, but I have many things to talk about! I can't promise there won't be nights, but I think 2017 is on a good enough start. I find it hilarious that in the end... some things, some people really don't matter that much anymore.

Anyways. So here we are.

Goodbye 2016, you were decent.

DC Entertainment: Harley Quinn(Suicide Squad)

I will not pay a huge amount of money for a special collector's edition of a Bluray release. What you get for the extra few bucks usually does not entice me; a hard case cover, some printouts, etc. Not my style, that is of course until I saw that this lovely thing was going to be the 'extra' that is attached to the Blu-ray release of DC's Suicide Squad. It's no secret that I do like the Cinematic appearance of Harley Quinn. While some of the qualms of fans are valid and I do agree with, I can't say that I can completely disregard this version of her because Margo Robbie played her quite well. Sex appeal high, yes, but the character portrayal is as good as you are going to get. So... how does a high price point statue/Blu-ray fit my geekdom? Let's find out!

It's more like a Harley Quinn statue with a bonus Blu-ray of Suicide Squad, to be honest with you. If you are familiar with the size of a standard Bluray case, then you know that this size comparison definitely states which item is sought out for. There's a variant of Will Smith Deadshot that one can purchase but seriously... who is the main attraction of the movie? Enchantress and her dancing can come to close second. HA!

So right from the get-go I'm just going to talk about just how awesome this statue is. Details. Plenty of it! Anyone who got a kick out of Harley Quinn's costume in the movie will definitely appreciate ever detail this statue has to offer. The way the molding just replicated every piece of her clothing, the wrinkles, the rips, the way it adjusts to her body, it's almost too real when looking at it from certain angles. Too real and very accurate to Robbie Margo's appearance as the ever so popular jester of the DC universe. Say what one will about the costume, as far as the action figure goes, one has to really admire just how accurate this statue takes it.

Everything about this figure is sculpted, down to the very detail of her hair. The only thing that isn't and I would have preferred it to be are her fishnets. They are 'cloth' that are draped on her legs and seamed at the back, which looks god awful. Well, not that bad but takes away from the statue.

The paint on this is amazing! Again another movie-accurate job well done and it definitely captures Harley Quinn's appearance(though the face isn't that accurate, but still pretty). The bright pink and blue tints on her blonde hair, the vibrant red and blue jacket, the flesh tones, the makeup, and then the way her accessories are painted (the choker, the bracelets, the belt, her footwear), definitely makes it realistic and a good contrast to the rest of the figure. And speaking of painted details:

The tattoos are painted clean and it's even dark enough to be seen through the fishnets! Her fingernails also have writing that this statue made sure it captured. Something I wasn't able to get a good pic of was the tattoo on her back, which was also well done.

The paint on her bat is also a stellar job done! And not exactly paint detail, but the writing on the back of her jacket is sculpted and it's well appreciated. Even if I think Joker's decision of outerwear for her is kind of... abrasive and crude, but it's Joker, right? Why did I even bring that up?

The posture is something to gawk over for plenty of reasons. And while we're at it, the gun that is holstered is also sculpted well! This posture made sure it showed it off without taking away from the way she is "modeling".

As one would expect from a modern day Harley Quinn, she is provocative and still manages to exude that badassery(I hate that seam so much! Okay not that much). The way her hip is cocked to her left, holding the bat over her shoulder, then with that eerily calm smile.... definitely is a sexy looking figure even if it's a little far away from an exact copy of Margot Robbie(face wise). I'm going to let a few thousand words do the talking for me:

Along with the "rotten", the bat, and the heart symbol, I guess now's the time to check out Harley's unorthodox, but stylish boots/heels... makes one wonder how she can be so agile with that damn thing. Anyways, the logo is regularly used for promotions when Harley is being shown with the DCU Suicide Squad. Aside from the jester symbol on the handle of her gun, I don't think of Harley too much when I see the symbol. But all in all, it's a good stand; heavy and firm, something that really keeps the statue standing up.

Just to show how tall this figure is, here she is next to two Bishoujo Harley I have in my collection: my most recent one, The New 52 and then, of course, The Classic. These two are by no means small statues, more like average, and then we have the towering Suicide Harley Quinn in the back! Definitely a tall figure, thus the price. And just while we are here, it's cool to see these renditions of Harley: Original Animated, Somewhat Recent Comic Book, and then the Movie version of her. The only thing I am missing is her popular Akrham City version(which I might still get).

All in all, if you can't tell, I love this statue. It is a pricey one, and the gimmick came with a Bluray, which is a win-win. If you have the cash to fork and you are a big time Harley Quinn Movie fan, or just a Harley Quinn fan in general, this statue has a lot to offer. I couldn't simply type out everything of how much I adore this piece. I LOVE it. Sure there are some flaws like it doesn't resemble Margot as much as it should and that annoying seam in the back, but all in all, it's a great piece! Just telling you right now, she might very well be the winner of the statue of 2016.
