Injustice: Bad Girls!

Injustice: Gods Among Us Review

So here is my first update on the game Injustice! And it's about the new skins available call the "Bad Girls". Basically, it's an update for Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Wonder Woman! Harley's original skin probably enamors more than enough fans since it is her apparel that she entered the Animated series in that made her canon in the Batman universe. Catwoman's I believe could be discerned as her New 52 costume without the mask while Wonder Woman's "#600" attire is the one that gets the most aspersions from fanboys who adore Diana showing off more skin and shy away from modesty.

There is a lot of fun seeing some of the fan favorite femme fatales in their new threads. Familiar aberrations make a great alluring sight especially when we are talking about the Catwoman and Harley Quinn insinuated rivalry(February Damsel of The Month). Wouldn't it be fun though if we get a bit of that episode in this game? Now I know, that is being overzealous with the wishes.

Speaking aesthetics with all three, I personally like Harley Quinn the best and despite me not being a big fan of Wonder Woman's revamped attire way back when, I do think it does some good in this game. Sure does a whole hell of a lot better than "Selina Kyle" alternate since that one seems a bit too insipid.

I am hoping for animated Catwoman or Arkham Catwoman sometime in the future! That would be a real awesome fan service! Speaking of Fan Service!

It's a rhetoric question if you ask. Trust me.

So to answer the subliminal, YES. I HAD TO.
So back to the topic at hand. The new threads does make an enticing show of beat downs and exuberant super moves or what not against each other and other DC characters in the roster(Lobo was added in, by the way; probably won't get him. Could care less about him).

But despite all of this I am do have my prowess to a certain winged warrior who happens to have the voice of a prominent voice actor as well!

Now Hawkgirl would be the person I am eager to see what her alternate outfit would be. Black Lantern perhaps? Or her not so enamoring animated series version? Oddly enough, I know very little about this character aside from the fact that she is a female version of Hawkman(duh). Perhaps I will do my research sometime soon but she does make a very good playable character for my taste. Until the time she does get her own alternate outfit...

Mass Effect's Last DLC & DmC

Have to admit, there was a rough point in the beginning of the game, however it's getting pretty interesting. Suffice to say, the humor is rather enticing; past conversations I suppose with some old faces joining the new! I'm enjoying it, so far... Though I think they are making it a bit harder by throwing a few obstruction... More words on it later.

Still on DmC as well. I believe I am close to finishing this game. Will have a review of course! Great game so far!

Gallivanting in Skyrim (Lucifer)

I went by a myriad of names. I have seen worlds that perhaps even my own tongue, whether it be by choirs of angels or shouts of dragons can't describe....

But in this world...

The Blade of Destitution within my grasp. I walk this strange world with the prowess of my past. My blade hungers and so I feed it. Blood...

That's what it seeks....

And when my blade is of no reach...

The light is mine to mediate. It is in my power. My aim is filled with conviction.

I have no qualms obliterating those who would stand in my way. The abhorrent intentions of those who are mindless. Or perhaps those who are seeking frivolous violence.

All of my tools are weapons. All my power unsheathed even if the enemy is unworthy.

And even the gods of this land who bear their fangs at me...

They fall asunder. Every one of them will feel the venom of their own voice. They are nothing more than aesthetics for my own eyes. Feast for Muramasa.

But when the night is over, I return to my solace. The silence her symbol gives me is enough. It may not be much and she may only speak with the scintillation of the stars her symbol governs, to me, that is enough. Catharsis comes in a small gesture, but to a place filled with blood and stripped of hope... her symbol... her on the other side is enough.

Finally some Skyrim!

After a long and patient wait for some Skyrim content, it's finally here! Well, tomorrow to be exact! Good for it too! Time to reclaim some lost grounds in the gaming world I suppose. And Maybe it's actually time to get some reviews done for this year, huh? So tomorrow will be Dragonborn, next week is hearthfire, and FINALLY the last week of February is Dawnguard! Sheesh!

Well, tomorrow after work I'll be downloading this beast!

A Good Way to Start Skyrim this Month!

Skyrim DLC Release Dates

So the whole debacle with Ps3 DLC in regards to Skyrim hasn't been a secret to say the least (Still No Word). But suffice to say, there is finally some good news to start off February! I couldn't be any more in love with this. Though I'm going to be completely honest, my exuberance ISN'T as high as it used to be for a myriad of reasons... the delays has become a prominent reason. Though perhaps once I get it and start playing it I will rekindle some old lost love.

My Words On:

Story/Plot: Aria had always been a fairly prominent character in many fans' eyes ever since she came on board in ME2. She is a tyrannical figure that ruled Omega. Well, since Cerberus came into power, Omega was taken from her and she is left stranded in the Citadel where in ME3, she spends the majority of the time in between a maudlin tyrant or a rather spiteful one. This DLC taps into Aria's hunger to reclaim her throne and as Shepard, you accompany her through the Universe's hometown for some of the worse that has to be offered; lawless, brutal, and often lack the need for a paragon. Along with the first female Turian that has ever been introduced in the Mass Effect games, Nyreen, you and Aria are in conquest to rid Omega of Cerberus influence before the final hours of the game. With only your experience through the galactic endeavors as the Great Commander Shepard to guide you, Aria's surging biotic power, Nyreen and her under group known as Talon, the fight to Omega is hell on the abysmal reach of space.

Personally, I didn't expect anything different than the plot that was offered to me, so honestly, it delivered. Could have had a twist or so, although at the end there was a slight unexpected turn, but in the grand scheme of things, it's straight forward.

A Female Turian and no Garrus?!

8/10

Gameplay: Not a whole lot changed in this aspect and again, with the praise that ME3 had in regards to its gameplay, of course they didn't need to alter a whole lot. Basically, you are still Shepard in whatever variation you chose to be and you are just shooting your way through a barrage of Cerberus while at the same time keeping in mind that there will be time limits, health bars of partner, so on and so on.

A drone not to be taken lightly unlike their predecessors!
Omega's DLC also added in two new enemies in the form of altered Drones and lab rat Reapers. They made portions of the game a bit more challenging whenever they showed up; using my full biotic female Shepard, it was for sure different than being my Vanguard. The other one I speak of is some sort of Reaper/ Cerberus experiment that the female Turian, Nyreen had a debacle over. I guess out of the gameplay aspect, they wanted to add a bit of struggle within the fresh new character (and fresh gender, I say) when it comes to these Adjutants; though they are hardly interesting in battle aside from the technique of pouncing so graciously towards you, which was a pain in the butt!

The choices in dialogue in regards to paragon and renegade still existed, though the 'QTE' was barely existent throughout the whole game. People's complaints about 'their choices no having any significant weight' for sure is more prominent in this DLC. I would discern that certain events are bound to happen regardless of the certain action, though I would like to try it again once I regain composure to delve into this DLC in the near future.

With the additional content still adhering to the main game's success through the gameplay, one could capsulize as to why I chose the rating I did with this. While missing a few elemental aspects, I won't resolve into maximizing such qualms because the DLC is in a much smaller content in contrast to the main game so certain things HAD to be subtracted (My Words On: ME3).

10/10

Missed Opportunities: Mass Effect 3 still has a lingering black eye from the really terse ending that they came up with when the game first came out. Sadly it's a potent stigmata that they could never be rid of, and they lost a lot of fan base because of it. Now while I think it's rather asinine to just leave a game just because of the result of the last 15 minutes (though I do understand the idea of the ending debacle) especially when there were efforts made to rectify, I also believe that Mass Effect 3's additional and not free content has to have a VERY gripping product! I'm not entirely sure WHAT could've been added in to ME3's Omega to make it THAT much better, I do believe that a mere 2-3 hours for the price that was asked, well... that was rather underhanded.

"More Content! Or I KILL YOU!"
But then again I am speaking rhetorically because all DLC's should have some sort of justice in them in regards to length reciprocating the price. Some contents like Leviathan(My Words on Leviathan) should have been part of the game while Omega is a give or take. Also to echo the flaws in Leviathan, I think there should been additional armor that comes with taking Omega, but sadly, not so much.

Overall: I enjoyed the DLC, but it wasn't ME3 enamoring. I bought it and it took me several days to actually delve into it so that says something. I would recommend this content to anyone who is a die hard Mass Effect Fan like myself. As one can probably tell, I am a very enthusiastic fan in regards to this franchise, however I am still a bit disturbed by the price in regards to the length. But oh well, I don't learn my lesson and I keep buying, and that's okay. As long as in the end I had some sort of enjoyment out of it, then the money was well spent. Though I was hoping there was more fresh take on the short-lived female Turian Nyreen... sadly...

Currently Playing:

I'm finally getting into the Retaking Omega DLC from Mass Effect 3. So far, it's not bad. Though there are some things I wish could change, but that would be the topic on my DLC review. I hope I can get it in this month so perhaps I could put it in the video games of 2012. Perhaps.

'Kamea Shepard'
Yes, I'm not playing as my regular Shepard in this DLC. I'm using my female one for reasons that I cannot access it on my 'Lucifer Shepard' because I am still very early in the game. I was going to wait, but I couldn't. So here I am playing my female Shepard into the Omega catharsis plan!

We Have Aria...

.... and Nyreen.
Yes, one of the qualms I have in this game is that there are no Tali, No Garrus, No NORMANDY crew. Small gripe I have, regardless, I still have a premature perception since... I'm still not done with the DLC as I have stated! But a female Turian, finally?

And one more thing... Mass Effect will be a buzz in my blog for a few posts or two!

Skyrim News?

From a good friend's courtesy, it seems that there will be some DLC life in ps3's Skyrim. We haven't been as luck has ps3 players since there has been 'technical difficulties' with Dawnguard and Hearthfire. Yeah, it's rather dejecting if you ask me. However, the third DLC apparently will carry over to the ps3 sooner than the previous two.

IGN: Ps3 and Dragon Born

If this is the case, I'm elated with that notion, HOWEVER, I am still more than happy to admit that getting the nocturnal DLC with added features to the Lycanthropy and the much more focused depth into Tamriel's vampires. But I'm here to count my blessings! Can't wait for this DLC. I hope it actually takes fruition!!!

My Words On:

Story/Plot: This takes place before the game ends, obviously so a lot of the story of Mass Effect 3 could have already taken place, or not, depending on where the player decides to take it; however in general, the last time this could be accessed I would imagine where I was able to access it and it is before the final assault on Cerberus. As for the DLC's main content, basically it is an attempt to shine some light on the Reapers' history, where they came from, and how. A scientist and his daughter have been trailing a beast named 'Leviathan' who seemed to have the capability of destroying Reapers with very little to no effort. With that said, Shepard and the rest of the crew would undoubtedly want this creature/weapon to be part of the war.

In a series of events and many encounters from indoctrinated humanoids under the Leviathan's control, Shepard and his team are able to uncover some of what made the Reapers what they are now; it draws a tangible fact as to why they are, who they were, and why the gargantuan shape that seems to be the flag symbol of the Reapers. On my end, I honestly feel this adds more depths to the known enemy, the way it is executed and offered is of course Mass Effect caliber. But just like any other DLCs that offers this much (or lack of) gravity, I feel that it should've been part of the game already. I will remain obstinate that this was probably part o the game but of course the need to make profit will of course triumph over everything. Now such an epiphany about the enemies becomes a trivial fact because not all of us are willing to fork out the cash; especially those who still abhor how the ending and/or the Extended Cut turned out.

8/10

Gameplay: The things that makes Mass Effect 3 stand out from the previous two series in regards to gameplay was not stripped, it would've been asinine to do so, but on the other side of the coin, nothing new was added. I didn't expect much addition at all in regards to this department. What I got from the DLC in regards to gameplay is what I expected. While I muse at the notion of them possibly adding on new features to the way one plays, I wouldn't exactly count it against Bioware for not adding anything new. But some would argue that there was something 'new' and that is the very minuscule 'mini missions' one has to partake in order to progress. When not in battle, Shepard and EDI spends a lot of time going back and forth to a particular lab in the Citadel; scanning for clues and putting together evidence to locate certain areas to search/ and or obtain key 'artifacts' (or Leviathan itself). In combat, very small 'modifications' are added in like guiding a repair drone while being bombarded by Bashees and Cannibals and at the final stage the act of running back and forth to 'power sockets' in order to open a hatch. Other than that, nothing too spectacular.

To me, there was nothing new at all, but I thought I should point those out just in case some would want to distinguish that as new content in regards to Gameplay. So my final score still adheres to my review to Mass Effect 3 (My Words on: ME3).

10/10

Missed Opportunities

Length: I'm not going to sit here on a tirade that is far too obvious to 90% of DLC content in regards to gaming. We spend a good chunk of cash only to receive an hour to five hours of gameplay. While again, this complaint is not validated when it comes from me because I spend money on DLC's if I like the game enough, it does still point out that I could be a MUCH happier camper if the length would go pass one sitting.

New Equipment: Armor. New Weapons. It's almost detestable that they would pout out weapon content that gamers have to pay for! Shouldn't it be part of the DLC?! Like a 'Leviathan' armor complete with a weapon set perhaps? I don't know. But again, I paid for the last Weapons DLC so my complaint isn't exactly adequate since it would seem I have little to no qualms in regards to DLCs (capcom, I'm not talking to you by the way).

MORE HOURS INTO IT!

Overall: I enjoyed the game and any DLC offered I would be enamored to purchase just to support Mass Effect and of course to quench my need to game. If this would be the final DLC (I highly doubt it; I would capsulize that one more is at hand. Hint! Retake Omega, perhaps?!) I would say donning the N7 armor one more time (relatively speaking) for this kind of endeavor is a whimsical way to do so. While the DLC still holds in my opinion lack of real zest because of the looming 'bad ending' that Bioware produced when ME3 came out, I say, by itself it adds a good stripe on the series' belt. And casting the idea that this kind of content and story should have been part of the game to begin with, I still think it was worth my time. Is the said amount adequate? That opinion we will keep subdued because again, my lack of frugality when it comes to gaming doesn't entirely adhere to my opinion at times. DLCs are a good testament of that 'fault' I seem to have.
