DC Collectibles: Arkham Knight Harley Quinn(Variant)

Let's take a break from Marvel Legends for a moment and talk about DC Collectibles. Harley Quin's last few years has been more than fruitful to say the least! She has come a long way from her Animated Series self, and for some fans of Harley Quinn, that's a bad thing because she has become so sexualized and pure fan service in some case. For me, I lean on both side of the spectrums. Sexualization of a character doesn't really bother me because, hey, I'm me. So, with that said, let's get to the review!

This action figure is based on a video game version of Harley Quinn; this is, in fact, a variant of her Arkham Knight outfit. All in all, the box exudes that same metallic, video game theme. Nothing too special, but still a good change from all the Marvel Legends I have been reviewing.

Right off the get go, I will say that she is gorgeous. As a fan of Harley Quinn, this is a good-looking take on her Animated Series look. Then again, this skin in Arkham Knight looks amazing in-game. Vibrant red, sleek shiny black, and the face is pretty. The details on her harlequin signature details (collar, cuffs, ear dangles) are just accurate and really stands out in a figure that is dominantly black and red.

And her mold is just gorgeous too. Sexy, petite, and does not fall in the egregious ways that some Harley Quinn figures are done with the huge chests that does not fit Harley Quinn at all. And I will just say it now that her mold, color, and her entire aesthetics, in general, is her highlight. Basically, the paint in this figure is just adorable and sexy all at the same time, and the body is a pretty solid Harley Quinn TAS throwback with a little bit more sass that she is known for today.

Now her accessories aren't bad at all since she comes with three pair of hands that are mirror of each other. You get an open palm, a fist, and a bat holding hand; but unfortunately for me, her left hand that holds her other accessory, her bat, broke(the black one). Did I mention this figure is petite and slim? So that makes her hand tiny and apparently fragile. I do wish that she did come with alternate faces since she just has a stern look on her face. She needs a grinning and angry face to make her Harley Quinn ambiance stick out.

Right off the get go, as far as her articulation made to be beautiful, not articulated.
goes, she isn't very adaptable. It's really hard to get her in some signature Harley Quin poses because she basically have no torso movement. Her upper body is basically stuck in this provocative pose and you can get some dynamic poses with, but not a whole lot. You can get plenty of sexual standing, kneeling, and sitting, but not a ton on her jumping around, nor can you even pose her holding her bat the way Harley would. This for sure is the downfall of this figure for anyone looking for a definitive Harley Quinn figure.

And here she is next to some of my Harley Quinns. Her Injustice costume, New 52, Arkham City, and her Amecomi; with the exception of the Amecomi, these are just my articulated figures I am showcasing. Obviously I have some Bishoujos and POPs of her. Just with this set alone, it's amazing just how far Harley has changed over the years. And this isn't even all her costumes either!

All in all, this Harley is a very beautiful figure... or more like a small, somewhat articulated statue. Paint is awesome, mold is great, and even she is spot on as classic as we can get with Harley. But for anyone looking for a poseable and dynamic Harley, this might not be it. Also, she isn't exactly TAS 100%; she is a variant of the Akrham Knight Harley Quinn costume so for anyone looking for a definitive classic Harley, one might have to look elsewhere.

Gaming Endeavors

Time for a break from the figures review and talk about another Hobby that I haven't been as fervent since a few years ago.

I may not have announced it but I did get a Ps4 QUITE recently; within the last 2 months to be exact. As the pics above shows, I'm currently playing Skyrim Remastered and Batman Arkham Knight. Great games. Now, I won't be going into reviews like I used to, but once in a while I will probably be sharing some things (Mods on Skyrim perhaps?). But here are some other prospects I have that are all mostly eastern themed games. I have some others like Injustice, the new Spider-Man game, Horizon, Mass Effect, etc. This list may repeat one or two, but most of these games are already released and obscure games. SO....

FFXV: This is a no brainer. I believe that this will be the next milestone of Final Fantasy. With FFXIII not quite hitting that mark for me and with FFXIV being a total waste of time, I do believe we need a brand new Final Fantasy that can truly hit that nostalgia as well as give us a new breath of fresh air!

Disgaea V Allegiance of Vengeance: I have always been a big fan of Disgaea. With Disgaea IV and II being my top favorite, I believe it's time for a new out of this world and hours and hours of fun with a brand new tactical JRPG. Besides this quote: "I will never forget. Vengeance is the only thing that keeps me going", I have a feeling the new main and I will get along just fine!

Onechanbara: Nothing to really say but.... we all need some sexualized zombie-slaying, mindless, hack and slash gaming time in our life! I played the one for X360 way back when and enjoyed it. I'm sure this will deliver to its (low) expectation.

Nights of Azure: Something about this game. As I was talking about hack and slash just a moment ago, this one has some flesh to it that will probably go beyond what Onechanbara will offer! It has potential for sure!

Street Fighter V: What's a new console without a new Street Fighter? Yeah, I won't be the champion or an avid player like I used to be, but I know for sure that I will at least have this so that I can play as Ryu and Ken or even Juri once more!
